Responsible for leveraging innovative suppliers to deliver materials and services at the lowest imaginable total cost and at the highest levels of food safety and quality, through the application of progressive purchasing concepts, practices and procedures. Manages service levels and resolves issues through collaboration with the end users of the material (i.e. manufacturing facilities, corporate departments, etc) and suppliers.

Develops understanding of materials, services and programs offered including company use of material and industry dynamics such as supplier information, material cost drivers, mergers & acquisitions, pricing trends, etc

Completes various financial reporting tasks such as volume and pricing analyses, market reporting, spend by supplier reporting, review of exception reporting and follow up (UPS), proactive review of market changes and how it might affect pricing (Office Max) and interpretation of financial information.

Monitors ongoing supplier performance by utilizing key supplier metrics, manages consistent service levels from suppliers and engages end-user associates to develop and manage action plans to address issues. Also performs periodic supplier reviews and visits. Open and ongoing communication with end users and suppliers is a must.

Maintains consistent material and program quality from suppliers through the use of key supplier metrics and develops and manages action plans with Corporate Quality Directors to address/correct any issues. Identifies any gaps with current programs and works with suppliers and internal customers to coordinate and provide training to address these needs.

Participates and/or leads sections of negotiations with suppliers on contract terms, pricing, issue resolution, etc. as an established procurement practice. Proactively manages contracts and ensures that agreements do not lapse.

Actively works to identify and implement cost savings opportunities including resistance to pricing pressures, joint process improvements, and innovative supplier improvement ideas. Also, acts as a liaison between the supplier and the end user customers to ensure that improvements are being heard and considered.

May lead strategic sourcing teams and acts as buying category subject matter expert on categories; participates in RFI/RFP scoring, supplier visits, development of negotiation strategy and in negotiations with potential suppliers.

Participates and/or leads various project teams throughout the organization; may be required to provide updates and presentations to procurement management and/or entire department.

Actively works to increase collaboration across the Supply Chain by building and maintaining relationships with suppliers and other functional groups (i.e. associates at manufacturing facilities, quality assurance group, etc.).

Reviews and approves capital PO's in a timely manner. May lead or assist engineers with negotiations for capital purchases. Actively looks for common purchases across the enterprise and will put together corporate agreements where it makes sense.

Reviews and approves compass vendor requests for indirect suppliers.

Makes presentations of results and recommendations to various groups, both internally and externally. (e.g. Town hall meetings, Steering team meetings, etc.)

What do I need to be considered a candidate?
Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or related field with a minimum 5 years job related experience or, M.S. in related field and 2 years job related experience.

Strong PC Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, database, SAP) and the ability to create spreadsheets, computer analysis, report writing.

Travels occasionally (up to 10% of time) to supplier's facilities, Rich's plants and potential training opportunities.

Strong negotiations skills and experience.

Good communication skills (written and verbal).

Proven record of follow through and completing tasks in a timely manner.

Good time management skills and the ability to prioritize.

Confidence in dealing with suppliers and internal stakeholders (Plant GM's).

Proven record of driving for results.

Operations background is preferred.
