The position requires hands-on management and development of Spirent's global vendor base to ensure optimized and timely supply solutions at the lowest total cost as well as the other following duties and responsibilities:
*Negotiating prices, terms and conditions with new and existing suppliers according to procurement best practice. Determining purchase decisions and committing contractually binding purchase orders.
*Working with integrated MRP system to manage Spirent’s global supplier base to ensure production needs, price conditions, vendor delivery performance and overall cost measures are met.
*Working closely with Engineering and Operations, deploy electronics vendor expertise to apply problem-solving techniques including alternate approval, supplier re-sourcing and escalation activity.
*Developing tools to monitor and improve vendor performance, using self-initiative and fact-based measurement criteria to provide vendor feedback and mutually agreed action plans.
*Drive Spirent’s contract manufacturing partners to comply with Spirent purchasing policy and to act as procurement decision-maker in support of new and existing outsource programs.
*Maintain component supplier standard costing systems and conduct extensive RFQ activities to benchmark and sustain supplier competitiveness.
*Responsible for on-time component purchasing and delivery to meet delivery schedules. Able to escalate issues with suppliers at all levels within the supplier organization.
*Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent. Experience and track record may be taken into consideration as a substitute for the right candidate.
*Minimum of 5 years electronics component purchasing experience as a Senior Buyer in a dynamic MRP based procurement environment. Strong knowledge of electronics sourcing and the component market.
*Competent MRP user, Microsoft Office (strong Excel skills needed), data analysis and status reporting.
*Any purchasing or supply chain related professional accreditation a plus.
