Senior Category Management Analyst
to support our Safeway business in
The position is responsible for tracking and evaluating business metrics for the sales organization. Examine and implement Ocean Spray’s strategic selling platforms for shelving, category management initiatives, and portfolio analysis for all assigned customers and channels. Analysis and reporting of business/competitive data will include post promotion evaluations, as well as tracking key performance indicators versus objectives.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
1. Support the sales force in the OS point of view on Shelving
2. Support all Customer Category Management work with Field Sales
3. Complete Post-Promotional analysis in customers to determine cause and effect of Trade spending & competitive reaction.
4. Work to support Senior Manager Customer Insights to insure a consistent POV in the selling strategies of current and new products across channels.
5. Work to support Senior Manager Customer Insights in the areas of delivering Shopper Insights to customers.
6. Develop an understanding of OS go-to-market strategies in trade promotion.
Decision-Making Authority/Accountability Level
This role is expected to work with guidance managing the execution of sales and category management leadership initiatives and making recommendations based on analysis of business results, competitive data, and consumer insight. This position impacts his/her channels/zones by having a solid understanding of industry and internal activities in those areas. The associate manager should provide viable recommendations for translating consumer and shopper insights into actionable insights for sales and OS customers. He/she should also provide recommendations for category solutions that are based on sound analysis of the consumer, brand, category and customer. He/she should identify, develop and deliver tools that leverage technology to be more efficient in reporting and analyzing data. The associate manager is able to perform business tasks autonomously with minimal supervision. Interacts with other peers and managers within the sales group and other functions across marketing. Able to be an effective advocate for sales and category management leadership initiatives across the enterprise. The Sr. Category Management Analyst must be skilled and highly proficient in gathering and interpreting syndicated data (IRI and ACNielsen) to provide supporting evidence for recommendations. Interpretations must utilize Excel and/or PowerPoint based presentations. Candidates must be able to orally and visually present information to peers and potentially customers.
Minimum Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:
Must possess knowledge of sales and category management practices and principles. Individual should possess strong interpersonal, analytical, organization and communication skills. Must have demonstrated personal and thought leadership capabilities in prior responsibilities. Educational experience typically gained through completing a bachelor’s or MBA degree in marketing or business. Work related experience from a sales or management position in a consumer products company, advertising agency, or marketing consultancy. Must be an advanced user of syndicated data such as ACNielsen/IRI, Microsoft Excel (or other spreadsheet software), PowerPoint and analytical problem solving.
