The role of the Desktop Sr. Engineer will be part of the Viacom Client Technology team. As a member of this team, it is the responsibility of the individual to help execute and advise on Viacom’s Technology vision and strategy for the client compute environment. This includes, but is not limited to, initiatives such as VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure), workstations, mobile devices, etc… As the industry makes the transition from individual workstations towards central computing systems, this team will be the technological leaders within the organization to help develop and refine our operational processes, procedures, and prepare us for the transformation into ITaaS (IT as a service). This team is also tasked with understanding industry trends, identifying technological opportunities such as, but not limited to, DaaS and other cloud options and communicating their findings back to management with their recommendations.


• Develop and promote the technology direction(s), standard(s), framework(s), and governance related to desktop and client technologies
• Configure and maintain the Citrix Environment for client technologies, including but not limited to, Xen Desktop, Xen App, and App-V
• Package, test, and deploy applications for both virtual and physical environment(s). Work with application team(s) to accomplish this task
• Understanding of automation technology and define the application lifecycle to facilitate rapid and reliable application deployment, patches, and upgrades
• Provide technical processes, procedures, and documentations for Desktop Service Teams (i.e. software and hardware standards, imaging process, installation procedures, etc…)
• Deliver a reliable, secure, fast workstation environment that meets and or exceeds the expectations and requirement for the user base and ensure that all devices are secure and performing optimally
• Participate in technology communities and apply industry standards and learning to our environment
• Evaluate and recommend hardware and software solutions which meet the needs of all departmental functions

Basic Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in Desktop Engineering or related area in a Global Enterprise environment
• Experience in software deployment, including SCCM, WSUS, or Casper, and packaging and or modifying software
• Strong understanding of VDI technology including, but not limited to, Citrix, Xen Desktop, Xen App, APPV, AppDNA, and RES
• Ability to work independently
• Strong desire to work with other technology groups with a positive attitude, excellent problem solving, communication, and organizational skills
• Expert knowledge in industry desktop reference architectures, desktop deployment, and scripting technologies
• Proven track record of being detail oriented, with outstanding follow-through


• BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
