This position is a member of a high performing team of commercial, business optimization analysts who provide commercial management with actionable information for operational and business optimization decisions. Responsible for applying an understanding of accounting and financial analysis to identify, analyze and monitor business drivers that affect profitability. Prepares performance reporting and forecasting data and analysis with a specific focus on earnings and working capital.
Develops models, and executes analysis and evaluation processes to measure, monitor and improve the short-term financial forecast for the company. This includes, but is not limited to, a focus on inventory, earnings and working capital for the organization based on commercial activities.
Prepares segment operations performance reporting. Executes modeling, analysis and evaluation processes for identifying trends related to segment operations performance. Presents findings and alternatives to commercial management.
Develops ad hoc financial modeling for supply and trading activity and assists with preparation of business cases for proposed Supply, Trading, and Optimization mid-term planning initiatives.
Obtains and compiles data used in econometric analysis. Researches, analyzes and synthesizes business information from multiple sources. Performs analyses for use in informed decision making by commercial management.
Acts as liaison between Supply/Trading, trading controls, and accounting to ensure departmental needs are met.
Prepares reporting related to transfer pricing and other operational activities of the Commercial Business Unit
Prepares accurate presentation materials suitable for executives.
Maintains strong working relationships with commercial business partners. Anticipates customer needs and expectations.
Education & Experience:
Minimum bachelor's in accounting, economics, finance or related discipline preferred. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Minimum 5 to 7 years experience in financial or business analysis required.
Financial modeling experience required.
Advanced knowledge of SAP, BW, and other financial reporting systems preferred.
Advanced skill set in using Microsoft office suite required, advanced knowledge preferred.
Experience with commodities and derivative structures preferred.
Strong analytical skill.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office tools.
Understanding of issues/external factors impacting refining industry.
Capable of summarizing large amounts of data into coherent views designed to answer the underlying query.
Able to communicate clearly with a wide range of people with different backgrounds, experience levels and from various disciplines.
Familiar with refinery operations and supply chain economics.
