At this time we are seeking a Senior Commercial Loan Officer to develop and implement plans and programs in order to grow our business services and increase our commercial lending portfolio.

DUTIES

Essential job functions include the following:
  • Coordinate the daily workflow of the Small Business department and act as the lead relationship officer for small business relationships;
  • Act as a mentor and manage other lending staff within the Small Business department delegating relationships to appropriate staff to manage based on the complexity of the borrower;
  • Stay abreast of commercial market demands, develop and provide updates to commercial/business products & services, including business checking, business savings, cash management and online services;
  • Oversee business lending activities, including underwriting, annual reviews and the proper risk rating of the business loan portfolio;
  • Be the first line of approval for Member Business Loans prior to submission to MBL Committee;
  • Take the lead in coordinating and overseeing Commercial Participation Loans including follow through on underwriting and servicing as well as establishing relationships with participation partners;
  • Collaborate with Credit Risk to minimize the risk of loss within the Business Loan Portfolio;
  • Remain current on the status of the loan portfolio to insure continued credit quality;
  • Remain current on NCUA Regulations regarding business lending; ensuring the Credit Union is compliant;
  • Recommend and develop policies for the Business Lending Department; Update Member Business Loan Board policy on an annual basis and as needed;
  • Recommend internal controls, tracking, reports, policies and procedures;
  • Train branch and other Credit Union department staff to assist business members with their needs;
  • Remain current on rate changes, laws, Credit Union policies and procedures, products and services, and NCUA and Small Business Administration (SBA) programs and regulations;
  • Review and implement federal and state regulation pertaining to business lending, coordinating efforts with the Compliance Officer;
  • Serve on the MBL (Member Business Loan) Committee and lead all meetings;
  • Attend, facilitate and participate in internal and external meetings as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of direct underwriting/lending experience and professional certifications as required.
  • Strong oral and written communication; must be able to make effective group presentations with a focus on training staff regarding technical areas; must provide clear and concise written communications essential for fraud identification and prevention.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including: Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook with the demonstrated ability to learn other software as needed.
  • Analytical skills - collects and researches data, uses intuition and experience to compile and analyze data; designs work flows and procedures as appropriate for department efficiency.
  • Problem solving - identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations.
