VHB, a nationally recognized leader in design, has a Senior Community Planner position open in our Planning + Design Studio in our Orlando, Florida office. The ideal candidate has both a design and policy background. Duties include master planning, urban design, residential communities, commercial projects, TOD, Form Based Code. Responsibilities include acting as project principal, project manager or lead designer on both private and public projects.
Most importantly, portfolio of work including implemented projects is the primary differentiator. VHB has a very broad client base and projects include private residential, commercial and resort work as well as public work for Sector Plans, corridor redevelopment, TOD, form based code, visioning and master planning. Candidates must demonstrate a wide, successful experiential background and bring a team attitude to our Studio. Pay commensurate with experience and the benefits are excellent.
Skills and Abilities:
o Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
o Ability to independently manage multiple tasks and interact appropriately and positively with clients and staff.
o Self-motivated with attention to detail.
o Demonstrated ability to graphically communicate including multiple techniques of hand drawings.
o Computer graphic skills are desired
o Knowledge and experience in innovative planning initiatives including smart growth, new urbanism and sustainability is desirable
o Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, In Design, Excel and other production software is required.
o 10+ years of experience preferably with a private consulting firm.
o Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Urban Design/Studies or related field.
o AICP and/or ASLA are suggested and CNU, LEED and USGBC are helpful.
o A background in landscape architecture is preferred.
