The role of the Senior Compliance Auditor/Educator is to assist the CCO and ACO in helping to assure the business affairs of TJUH are conducted with applicable federal, state and local laws. The position requires knowledge of health care organizations, including academic medical centers, as well as familiarity with health care laws, regulations and third party billing rules. This individual acts as a clinical documentation and billing advisor to physicians, non-physician practitioners as well as coding and billing staff. The position also requires the individual to prepare and present individual and/or group education sessions for clinical, coding and billing staff in accordance with federal, state and professional documentation, billing and healthcare fraud & abuse requirements.
BA/BS and clinical background to this role (e.g., Nursing or Health Information Management) is required. A certification of one or more of the following by the American Academy of Professional Coders or American Health Information Management Association (CPC, CPCH, CCS or CCS-P) is preferable. A multi-specialty coding background and experience in researching complex coding issues highly desirable.
