The Role
We are seeking an innovative and digitally savvy marketing / editorial professional to own the roadmap for App Annie's content marketing and community evangelism throughout the global app store industry. App Annie has one of the largest communities of app publishers in the world and is also a reputable voice in the business and tech press across publications like Techcrunch, VentureBeat, Mashable, WSJ and Bloomberg. Data is increasingly at the center of business decisions, and as a data company, our role is to inform the industry about new trends in the app store industry, strategies to help their own businesses and how to use analytics and market data tools effectively. The Content Marketing Manager will take responsibility for developing, guiding and managing App Annie's voice in the public sphere. This content-driven individual will also be responsible for growing and engaging App Annie's community of app developers, game publishers, platform owners, tech journalists and VCs through social media and other community programs.
You'll be responsible for the strategy, creative control and execution of a variety of content including infographics, quarterly reports, e-books, online videos, blog articles, interviews, industry event presentations etc. And you'll run both a regular editorial program as well as special content for specific campaigns. You'll work with other specialists within the marketing team to leverage this content to drive company visibility, user acquisition and sales leads.
Develop and execute content marketing plans, delivery strategies, and content (editorial) calendar
Develop ideas and contribute original thematic content (blog posts, case studies, articles, white papers, videos, infographics, presentations and the like) that can be utilized across a variety of channels;
Coordinate with internal marketing functions to deliver compelling content for all prospects, channels, campaigns for each phase of our target audiences sales and marketing lifecycles
Drive on time execution and delivery of content through your own initiative and through our internal and externally sourced designers, writers and resources
Partner with third parties such as analysts/ consultancies to license their content and collaborate to produce ‘third party’ white papers & research reports
Ensure all content promotion activities are coordinated across channels including social promotion and email
Drive content for webinars program by creating presentations tailored to the subject matter of each webcast
Ensure all content meets high-quality standards and provides clear benefits to the reader
Continually test content formats and distribution channels to determine the optimal approach to reaching various segments of App Annie's target audiences
Repurposing content into new forms including blog posts, emails, podcasts, videos, Slideshare, and eBooks
Provide accurate project reporting on all content marketing activities to senior management and external stakeholders as appropriate
Some jobs will require you to direct a team of people to produce your ideas and visions, while others will require hands-on content development
We are looking for someone whose passion for the apps industry is multiplied by their passion for editorial, content, social media and creative forms of marketing. You're an ideas person, an excellent copywriter in a variety of writing styles, and you've got an accessible and entertaining sense of humor that can be leveraged in a B2B content. You've had experience creating all types of content either in an editorial role or a digital marketing role, and you know exactly how to make viral content and how to make content go viral. You understand the apps industry, you've worked in the industry, you're more than familiar with what's trending in Silicon Valley and you know what drives indie developers, explosive start-ups, venture capitalists and tech journalists. You've also got a global view on everything and understand that the app economies in Asia and Europe are just as important as what's going on in the Valley. This is a special role for a unique person with the following qualities:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, English, Journalism, Technical Writing, Communications or a related field
5+ years experience (preferably in high-technology/ SaaS companies) with end-to-end content marketing execution, including conceptualizing, designing, launching and supporting online, interactive and/or multichannel campaigns;
Exceptional writing and editing skills aligned to innate creativity and experience in bringing new programs and ideas to life
Familiar with digital marketing strategies and content strategies
Strong project management skills – the ability to own and drive project schedule from start to finish, including managing peers and individuals senior to you
Subject matter expertise in IT trends and technology (for example, personalization, mobility, security, big data, analytics, ecommerce.)
Experience with corporate branding, and a clear understanding of marketing strategies and concepts
Ability to interpret creative direction, and a willingness to learn
Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment
Strong creativity and passion for creating responsive, original and interesting content
