The position is designed to assist the Director of Kirmayer Recreation Center at KU Medical Center in the administration of fitness programs, facilities and membership services areas, which includes the management of student staff and program development. Please note, Kirmayer employees may be asked to work early morning, late evening and/or weekend hours. High level of customer service is expected.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology, Recreation, Sports Management, Physical Education, or related field. Nationally accredited personal training and/or group fitness certification. ACSM preferred. Sales experience in a fitness, recreation, or wellness related field. Experience in personnel management, staff training, and development. Excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills, while possessing a professional demeanor and customer service attitude. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Current CPR/AED certification or obtain within first two weeks of employment .

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Exercise Physiology, Recreation, Sports Management, Physical Education, or related field. General knowledge or experience with student staff and/or program assessment in higher education. ACSM personal training, HFS or specialty certification. Certified pool operator and experience working with aquatics.

Duty (1) Description
Fitness management (30%): Oversee daily operations of group fitness program and cardio-strength fitness areas. Create and maintain group fitness schedule, monitoring attendance, policy and procedures, equipment inventory/purchases, and create choreography. Coordinate trainings, meetings, and evaluations to improve instructor skills and techniques. Process instructor payroll and invoicing. Arrange and implement outreach programs and events. Develop and foster on campus collaborations and partnerships. Instruct classes and personal train.

Duty (2) Description
Membership services management (30%): Responsible for the management of the Welcome Desk operations including access control, reservations, equipment check out, towel service, locker rental, program registration, membership management, etc. Hire, train and manage student membership staff. Process membership payroll. Maintain the welcome desk as an organized and safe work space and assure compliance with policies and procedures for money handling.

Administration (20%): Participate in all Kirmayer Center professional staff meetings. Approve and submit payroll. Complete travel training and travel requests for the department. Participate in building-wide programming. Assist in promotion and public relations of programming and facilities.

Facility Operations, Maintenance & Management (20%). Assist with facility operation, supervision and maintenance of the Kirmayer Recreation Center on various morning, evening and weekend shifts. Oversee daily operations including policy enforcement, procedures, equipment inventory/purchasing, facility maintenance (including pool/ sauna area), and cleanliness.
