The Senior DB Technical Support Analyst will ensure successful implementation of standard projects focused on upgrades to Mercer's proprietary software/tools. As part of the Conversion team, this role will (1) drive the definition/documentation of business requirements and (2) develop/document the strategy and execution of test plans. In this role, it is critical that the candidate have a detailed understanding of Defined Benefits (DB) as well as standard testing processes/practices. In addition, an understanding of Mercer’s record keeping system and web portal is highly desired.

To fulfill this role, the analyst will:
Coordinate the documentation of DB business requirements using standard documents and templates, through the utilization of onshore/offshore resources

Identify and resolve issues and problems that will affect accuracy of the business requirements

Manage detailed reviews of business requirements with internal users to ensure accuracy and completeness

Provide Structured Query Language (SQL) logic and work with Client Service teams to gain a high-level understanding of multiple plans to facilitate all aspects of the project

Develop detailed test plans for the administration system and web portal based on the benefit structures within plans that provide comprehensive testing of the business requirements

Analyze and mine data to populate the various testing criteria required in the test plans

Execute testing plans and analyze results for the record keeping system and web portal

Run and confirm regression results to verify system changes and generate valuation files and confirm results

Collaborate with the development team and end users and respond to information needs, questions, and clarifications in a timely manner

Facilitate meetings with the development team and end users to respond to errors, questions, defects and retesting requirements

Adhere to standards, procedures and process improvements as required

Effectively communicate with team members (onshore and offshore), internal customers and external customers relating project status, delivery dates and project risks in a professional manner

Work independently and as a member of a team with minimal supervision on assigned projects to generate accurate and efficient solutions

Act as technical expert and work on complex projects with less specificity

Provide technical support high-level technical support to internal and external clients

Posses a good understanding of code development, testing and debugging.

Enhance and improve existing technical processes

Bachelors Degree (Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, etc..) or equivalent work experience required

3-5 years of defined benefits experience and/or experience automating solutions for pension benefit calculations

Understanding of regression process used in testing benefit calculation systems changes

Working experience with cash balance, traditional, and other types of DB plans

DB outsourcing experience, including databases required to support administration of the plans

Experience with information and calculations available via the web for DB active and in-pay plan participants

Proficient in SQL creating scripts to query the database in order to analyze populations within plans and mine data for testing

Knowledge of configurations for web display of the defined benefit line of business (knowledge of HTML, JAVA, C# preferred, Gui Database interface or similar database product desired)

Experience with web testing when upgrading the DB platform

Experience running, testing, and manipulating data interfaces, including but not limited to IBM Cognos reports, HRIS systems, or similar large-scale data files

Experience in the process of setting up test cases, including copying and cloning test cases

Proven technical skills and excellent analytical skills

Excellent client-focus or customer service skills

Ability to juggle multiple projects and deliver on time and on budget

Strong knowledge of Excel and Word, and basic understanding of MS Project, Access and database management

Ability to work well in team environment is critical

Excellent interpersonal skills; strong oral and written communications skills; ability to communicate technical information in a way that others can understand. Ability to interpret plan documents, provisions and administrative practices

Strong project coordination/organizational/time management skills

Good meeting facilitation skills

Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
