Senior DB2 DBA

Database Administrator

Responsibilities:
  • The position combines database design, develop quality database code, database administration and systems engineering expertise to conceive, build and operate high-performance fault-tolerant database systems and infrastructure for a wide variety of database-centric applications.
  • This position is accountable for design and develops highly scalable, high-performance latency-sensitive and reliable enterprise-level distributed database-centric web based applications using Microsoft technologies as well as open source systems.
  • This position may do the database logical design, physical design, data modeling, application development, performance management and monitoring systems.
  • Architect, and build databases from determining business requirements, to planning and deploying test and Production systems.
  • Interact with our software engineers to optimize overall application design, which will require performance modeling and query reviews and optimizations.
  • Apply sound release management and configuration management principles to ensure the stability of production environments. Interface with other members of the IT and operations teams to quickly and efficiently resolve problems with applications and database systems.
  • Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity. Experience with major RDBMS – Oracle RAC 11g/DB2 (Linux)/MySQL/Maria DB. Exposure to Agile & Waterfall development methods.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Writing complex stored procedures, functions and packages.
  • Design, architect, and build databases from determining business requirements.
  • Perform database logical design, physical design & data modeling
  • Develops innovation, strategies, processes, and best practices
  • Writing complex stored procedures, functions and packages.
  • Conduct code review and mentor other database engineers
  • Evaluating change requests and determining the impact of those changes to the assigned databases
  • Identifying, analyzing and resolving problems with existing RAC databases as well as Exadata
  • Apply sound release management and configuration management principles to ensure the stability of production environments
  • Performance management and monitoring systems including IBM OPTIM, Troubleshoots business and production issues
  • Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates
  • Ensure compliance in related tasks with company and regulatory policies and procedures and deliver on-call support for critical database applications as needed.
  • Create written reports of findings and recommendations on performance analysis, feasibility studies, and proof of concept evaluations
  • Performing capacity monitoring and short and long-term capacity planning in collaboration with development resources, system administrators and system architects.
  • Schedule and coordinate Database jobs, monitor progress and completion of all jobs and take corrective actions as necessary.
  • Keeping the database up to date on patches and supporting the roll-out of new versions
  • Backup and Recovery
  • Maintain and troubleshoot DataGuard used for DR replication

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering
  • 3+ years’ experience with IBM CDC, Q, and Golden Gate used for data replicatio
  • 3+ years’ experience to code across a number of languages from Python to Java, PL-SQL, with very strong skills in Linux and scripting
  • 8+ years’ experience with major RDBMS like Oracle, DB2 (Linux), MySQL, Maria DB
  • 8+ years’ experience in data modeling skills, logical and physical database designs
  • 8+ years’ experience in writing complex stored procedures and functions.
  • 8+ years’ experience as a technical leader who can identify risks, create risk management / mitigation / transfer plans and implement plans to contain risk.
  • Good Communication skills

Senior Database Engineers
  • Our Data Architecture and Development team is looking for a database professional with experience in data modeling, replication, and basic DBA tasks.
  • Solid SQL skills and a thorough understanding of relational database concepts and referential integrity are required; ETL/ELT is a plus.
  • experience with using CA ERwin or IBM InfoSphere Data Architect, can perform basic DBA tasks in a DB2 LUW and/or Oracle 11g environment, and has worked in an n-tier replication environment (CDC, DB2).

Responsibilities:
  • Creation and maintenance of replication subscriptions
  • Troubleshooting replication errors and determining recovery without loss of data
  • DDL Script generation and implementation for multiple RDBMS systems
  • Reverse engineer, document, and analyze data models for existing application databases
  • Review change requests and determine the impact of those changes to the data models
  • Create shell and SQL scripts to implement schema additions and changes
  • Analyze and support data movement and transformation across disparate application systems
  • Enforce adherence to published database standards
  • Maintain and publish documentation and ERDs for data models and processes

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years’ experience with SQL
  • 5+ years’ experience with ERwin and/or IBM IDA
  • 5+ years’ DBA experience with major RDBMS such as Oracle and/or DB2 LUW
  • Experience with Linux and shell scripting
