Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree required in Mathematics, Statistics, Business or Information Systems or 2-4 years of relevant work experience in data analysis involving migrating data from production platforms into reporting repositories
• 2+ years development experience with a range of BI & dashboard tools (along with strong knowledge of BI products and capabilities)
• Advanced knowledge of SQL is essential
• Advanced MS Excel and Access skills with the ability to create complex VBA code in reports
• Experience managing medium to large data bases and data sets
• Working knowledge of data warehousing, and the structure of multi-dimensional and relational database systems
• Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills an rigorous attention to detail
• Understanding of data warehouse construction and the ability to collaborate with the Data Warehouse team in development
• Good leadership and project management skills and ability to effectively communicate information across multiple levels of the organization is required
• Experience in general reporting methodologies, including but not limited to charts, scheduled delivery of reports, ad-hoc
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem solving, excellent communication and customer service skills required
• Familiarity with health care domain is desired

Job Description:
The Senior Data Analyst will be responsible for a broad array of data management, data construct/technical design, development of BI dashboards, and database support responsibilities within the Division of Neurology. The current data architecture includes Excel spreadsheets, Access databases, surveillance systems, incident reporting systems, data marts, RedCap and use of Business Objects. These ‘legacy’ tools and data construct are now being replaced by an enterprise data warehousing solution and through use of business intelligence dashboards through use of QlikView product. The qualified is responsible for identifying, designing, and developing custom Business Intelligence (BI) dashboards and reports in QlikView. The Senior Data Analyst translates requirements from report/dashboard requestors into detail design specifications, conducts complex data analysis, including identifying data sources and analyzing available data, and creates/modifies the data architecture in support of patient outcomes, research, and quality measurement. The Senior Data Analyst is responsible for the design, development and administration of ‘future state’ analytical data constructs/ structures as well as support for ‘current state’ which is in need of improved data management practices of: data quality, data organization, metadata, and data modeling. This position works closely with CHOP IS Analytics team and with division-based Medical Directors to ensure that data standards and work processes align to dashboards and reporting. The Senior Data Analyst will be tasked to collect, summarize, analyze data and to provide insight into the data to facilitate decision making to improve quality patient care, decrease harm events, increase revenue, and reduce costs.
1. Business Intelligence
• Work with Improvement Specialists, Business Analysts, and clinical staff to design, recommend, develop and integrate tools-based solutions based on best practices and CHOP standards.
• Utilize QlikView platform in the deployment of BI dashboards
• Plan and manage the development process with agile tools while being accountable to project milestones and resource estimates
• Act as a liaison to CHOP IS Analytics Group and with other technology teams, sharing and coordinating methodology, code, and resources
• Consult with senior business leaders to identify issues that can be solved by analytics and deliver high-quality recommendations to address the issues
• Builds the capability of the organization to understand and manage clinical performance dashboards and score cards
2. Data Analysis and Reporting
• Performing complex data extractions and manipulations, which culminate in the design and production of ad-hoc analyses and reports for internal analysis and external reporting
• Develop and extract patient clinical data reports for publications and external reporting requirements (eg. government agencies, healthcare consortiums and collaborative, U.S. News and World Report, insurance providers, etc)
• Designing and automating reports for efficient production
• Provide observations, insights and conclusions on analyses and reports
• Consults/Teaches colleagues about best tool selection from ‘self-service’ tool box at CHOP: Excel, Access, or BI tools
3. Data Management and Database Support
• Partner with OPSQ Data Management teams on the development and maintenance of OPSQ data standards, policies, and data collection procedures (standard operating procedures) related to data management activities
• Liaison with external data sources (eg. registries, collaborative, vendored-databases) to align to internal data sources for BI presentations, comparator analysis, and/or further analytical reporting
• Works with Data Managers on the development of data extraction and integration routines involving multiple data sources and complex SQL queries to compare/reconcile data for quality checks.
• In a project-management capacity, serves as resource with CHOP IS teams, outside vendors, external clinical registry managers, and clinical care teams on various data and database projects (eg. application development efforts, systems upgrades, data exporting, registry certifications, etc)
