EcoFactor is a fast growing start-up that helps homeowners reduce their energy bills. We collect thousands of data points from each home each day. We use this data to calculate heating and cooling strategies save the energy without compromising comfort, and then implement these strategies in real-time. Our optimizations reduce monthly bills, shed peak load, detect faults, and keep homeowners comfortable.
We're a smart and passionate team based in Redwood City, California. Come and help us move home energy management into the future.
The Data Science team at EcoFactor is responsible for algorithms at all their various stages: development, implementation, and maintenance. We’re looking for a software engineer with a quantitative background to complement the strengths of the team in both science and engineering.
Though your lead will be particularly prominent in the development of reliable and scalable code, you will contribute to all projects, ranging from analytical to infrastructural, early-stage to late-stage. As a foundational member of the team, you will help inform the priorities and practices of the team.
You will have access to a data-set that is huge and continues to grow exponentially. You will deploy algorithms on a distributed platform and see them run in homes nationwide. Your results will be discussed at all levels in the company and will directly inform product development. You will drive algorithms all the way from conception to production.
This might be the right job for you if:
you like data, models, and optimizations
you love simplicity
you hate ugly code, and care deeply about reliability, scalability, and maintainability
you've read 'Code Complete', 'The Pragmatic Programmer', or other books in the genre
you've considered starting your own company
you care more about kWh than CTR
