TDS has an exciting new opportunity for a Database Administrator OR Senior Database Administrator to join our diverse Application, Development & Support team. We have one opportunity available and the position will be filled based on applicable skills. The position will be located at our Corporate headquarters in Middleton, WI.
The Senior Database Administrator will support, monitor, and maintain databases across the TDS family of companies. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and creative individual with a strong background in Oracle database administration with the knowledge and desire to also support a small but growing number of SQL Server databases.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Installation, configuration, and maintenance of Oracle and SQL Server databases, including security setup/maintenance, auditing and backup/recovery.Troubleshooting and performance monitoring and tuning of Oracle and SQL Server databases.Providing leadership/management for projects and enhancement initiatives.Implementing process improvements and system enhancements of moderate to high complexity to meet customer and business needs.Providing technical guidance to other team members.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field -OR- 4+ years equivalent combination of technical and functional experience.7+ years experience with database technology.5+ years experience as a database administrator working in an Oracle (9i, 10g, and 11g)/UNIX/Linux environment; SQL Server administration experience is a strong plus.Ability to participate in off-hours on-call rotation.
Preferred Qualifications: Core Oracle database administration experience including installation, configuration, maintenance, security, auditing, backup/recovery, monitoring, trouble shooting and performance turning.Demonstrated knowledge of SQL language and Oracle PL/SQL.Good working knowledge of scripting with UNIX Sun Solaris and Linux.Experience working with Oracle OEM Grid Control.Oracle RAC/ASM/Cluster and Oracle ODA experience a plus.DBA experience with SQL Server 2008/2008R2/2012 a plus.Understanding database design practices, including database normalization concepts.Demonstrated cross platform knowledge and skills.Ability to lead projects including estimating, planning and managing to schedule.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
