We are seeking a Sr. SQL DBA that will help design, install, configure, tune, monitor, backup and run SQL Server databases across multiple development and testing environments including production support. In addition, this role will mentor team members in North America and China on database security practices, standards and performance best practices.

\This position will play a vital role in the success of Active’s largest and leading project to provide a new platform for the company to run on. The Sr. SQL DBA will report to the Sr. Director of Infrastructure Development and Service Delivery.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated SQL Server DBA that to join our global technology organization. This position will have the opportunity to work with some of the industry’s best and most talented SQL Server DBAs to maintain a large database environment. The environment consists of numerous 2005 and 2008 instances, as well as several large multi-data center SQL 2012 HADR implementations! The SQL Server DBA will report to the Sr. Director of Platform Services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Proactively monitor system performance and be prepared to retune database systems for production, utilize integration, test and development environments to maximize performance and eliminate problems or potential problems.

Ensure standardization of systems and methods: support techniques, and adherence to formal processes, change control, best practices and total quality practices in all activities.

Plan, monitor and implement backup and recovery of SQL databases

Troubleshoot and/or provide technical support to application development teams.

Control and implement migration of programs, database changes, data changes and application changes through the development life cycle.

Schedule routine maintenance and carry out this maintenance as required assisting performance and ensuring maximum uptime of the database.

Installation and configuration of database and application related software.

Required Qualifications:
+5 years’ experience in a Database Administrator role working in an enterprise environment.

Strong knowledge of relational databases, T-SQL and scripting languages.

Thorough knowledge of SQL Server 2008 - 2012 and associated utilities.

Solid understanding of SQL Server security administration

Experience and understanding of SSIS packages.

Knowledge of server hardware and Windows Server 2008 – 2012

Ability to manage multiple ongoing tasks simultaneously.

Experience designing and deploying industry best practices and procedures.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or technical discipline from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience

Must be a team player and have a proactive approach to problem solving.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
Database Technical Certification considered a plus (i.e. Microsoft Certified Database Administrator).

PowerShell skills highly desirable

Experience with GoldenGate

Good knowledge of all the MS-Office Productivity Tools.
