Position requires skills in working with large volumes of data to prepare accounting and financial reporting work products. Work includes contributing to multi-year business planning and forecasting, maintenance of accounting infrastructure and other financial system duties. Occupant will work with Deans’ Offices, Accounting and other operations personnel.

Minimum Qualifications
Five or more years of progressive experience as a manager or director in a financial position at an academic medical educational institution or affiliated health care organization is highly desired.

Experience as an auditor or consultant specializing in the health care or education industry or non-profit tax field may be substituted.

A high level of diverse technical skill and knowledge is required to support executive decision requirements. A working knowledge of external financial accounting standards, health care and tax regulations, analysis techniques, institutional policies and procedures, internal management controls, institutional data bases and systems, and desk top office computer programs is essential to arriving at relevant conclusions and recommendations for key decision-makers.

Excellent communication and time management skills are necessary to inform decision-makers and colleagues dependent on work performed in this position.

Proven abilities to timely synthesize financial material, both orally and in writing, relevant to a targeted audience’s needs; work productively with peers within and outside of the Controller’s Office in a timely, positive, and constructive manner; discern and consider points of view across organizational lines and communicate on a multi-disciplinary basis; and exercise good judgment and act in a professionally courteous manner when dealing with controversial, confidential, or sensitive material.

A proactive and collaborative management style is required to develop relevant and useful information from sources at all levels of the organization. Proven abilities to problem solve and mitigate business risk in an uncertain or changing environment. Must be able to independently research issues to determine relevance and apply findings in settings ranging from drafting policies to implementing operational procedures.

Minimum Required Education
A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required.

Preferred Qualifications
CPA or MBA preferred.
