Raytheon BBN Technologies is seeking a qualified Senior Digital Design Engineer for the development of high-performance, space-efficient embedded digital controllers for wireless communications devices, audio and video processors. The candidate must be experienced in translating requirements definitions through trade-off studies into cost-effective producible hardware. A requisite key strength is the ability to select the optimum architecture and components across vendors' Microcontrollers, DSPs, and FPGAs.

The Senior Digital Design Engineer will additionally be responsible for designing peripheral circuits such as analog and digital sensor inputs and power supplies. Total design responsibility also includes PWB layout, ATE development (hardware and software), test, and generation of user documentation.

Job Requirements

'B.S.E.E. with 15 years' experience in designing embedded controllers for military communications systems

'Expertise selecting and applying highly integrated components such ARM Processors, Digital Signal Processors (e.g. TI TMS320 family), OMAP Processors and programmable logic devices from Actel, Altera, and Xilinx

'Experience with the design, debug, and test of high-density components including 0.5 mm pitch BGAs and 01005 passives

'Familiarity with standard electrical interfaces such as RS-170, Ethernet, USB-2.0, RS-232, SPI, and I2C

'Sufficient coding skills to independently develop test automation software and graphical user interfaces suitable for a laboratory environment

'Working knowledge of VHDL to support embedded design and/or external test capability

'TS/SCI Security Clearance
