The Optical Society seeks a senior-level Senior Director, Membership, Education and History Programs. The successful candidate will lead five focus areas:

i. Membership - Manages team tasked with planning and program implementation in support of member recruiting, retention, benefits/services, administration and performance tracking and reporting. Oversees specialized programming, such as the Young Professionals Program, Senior Membership, the Member Advisory Network, etc.

ii. Student Chapters and Local Sections -Ensures positive chapter and section relations. Leads efforts to recruit new organizations and enrich chapter and section benefits. Oversees key programs to include the Student Chapter Leadership Conference, the International OSA Network of Students (IONS) events and the Activity Grant Program.

iii. Youth Education -Oversees programs directed toward pre-college educators. These efforts include Web sites, special events, education grants and the development/promotion/distribution of classroom demonstration materials.

iv. Governance and Volunteer Relations -Oversees director-level staff person tasked with fulfilling governance tracking, reporting and staff liaison relationship-building deliverables.

v. OSA History Program -Leads/facilitates an association-wide effort to prepare for and host the 2016 year-long celebration of OSA's 100 th anniversary. Key activities include: i. The development of a book that captures the century-long history of OSA in concert with the history of the optics/photonics field, ii. Content development and promotion of the OSA History Web site, iii. Facilitation of special events, e.g., symposiums at the OSA Annual Meeting/Frontiers in Optics, iv. The development of special exhibits and other projects that support the centennial celebration, and v. The development and implementation of an archive and records retention process for the entire organization

Additional requirement include: a Bachelor's degree, along with 10-12 years of relevant work experience, the ability to meet multiple deadlines,work independently and demonstrate strong leadership skills with a focus on team-building
