Zendesk is looking for a Senior Director of Public Relations. You will develop and lead a world class public relations program focusing on building the Zendesk brand via press relations (high quality coverage), industry relations (key industry associations, speaking engagements, awards) and analyst relations (Forrester, Gartner, etc..).
Reporting into the CMO, the Senior Director of Public Relations will work very closely with Zendesk’s CEO on content creation, thought leaderships strategies and messaging for media interviews, bylined articles, and speaking engagements at industry events. You will also be responsible for managing Zendesk’s outside PR counsel.
The Senior Director of Public Relations will work with marketing, sales, product development, legal, and human resource to craft corporate messages for both external and internal audiences. This role will also serve as the main information source for media contacts requesting data and insights.
Minimum 10 years of PR experience. Agency experience preferred.
Experience working in B2C or B2B cloud based companies preferred.
Ability to be a trusted advisor to our CEO who can help shape content creation, coach and elevate our executive team.
Ability to distill key messages and story angles to help guide our executive communications.
Exceptional writing skills and passion for communications.
Ability to write and place bylined articles.
Crafting press releases and communications that set Zendesk apart from the noise the media is faced with everyday
Experience in securing industry awards.
Established relationships with industry journalists in the technical and business media, industry analysts, and bloggers.
Ability to identify and sway top industry based influencers.
Experience in formal spokesperson training programs.
Agility and creative intellect, entrepreneurial, pragmatic and flexible in nature
Experience preparing and coaching company spokespeople in advance of interviews
Excellent AP-style journalistic writing and editing practices and strong presentation skills
Know how to prepare and coach executives during press interviews and turn conversations into coverage
Track record of arranging C-level speaking engagements at industry events.
Fluency in social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and other popular or emerging sites
Proven speech writing experience.
Establishing and assure adherence to budgets and schedules.
Great cultural fit. Must be willing to laugh and enjoy working closely with executive team.
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in marketing, public relations, communication, or journalism.
