EMD Serono
                is reinforcing its Market Access and Pricing (MAP) team, as the healthcare market is changing and is becoming more complex with different stakeholders emerging as important decision makers as to which medicines gets access to which markets and patients under which conditions.

                We view market access as an interdisciplinary approach to support product strategies in order to achieve and maintain reimbursement and pricing at an optimal level and remove restrictions on physicians so that patients can receive the medicines they need.
                Market Access key strategies:
                • Along all product life cycle (not only for new products)
                • A multi-stakeholders approach (not only a multi-stakeholders view)
                • A company process (not a departmental function)

                The key goal of this position will be to lead the Market Access strategy of the company worldwide in the area of Oncology, as a partner that contributes to business performance with accountability for results. Based in Rockland (MA), the candidate will be a member of a dynamic and busy team, integrated into the Global Operations organization.

                He/she will be able to working with colleagues worldwide, having the opportunity to work and interact with highly experienced individuals, both in government affairs, market access, pricing, health economics, regulatory affairs, medical affairs, commercial divisions and with the EMD Serono’s senior management.

                Global Business Franchise Team Members, Senior leaders throughout the organization, Country Managers,

                Major Responsibilities
                • Develops holistic market access plans, including pricing and reimbursement strategy, for identified current and future EMD Serono products within area of responsibility,
                • Providing proper input on pricing and reimbursement strategy, and other market access areas, to the Product Team Leaders, at the different stages of the product development
                • Coordinating the inputs from many different headquarters departments
                • Effectively translates results of health economics research and studies into clear and concise messages for specific internal and external audience consumption that highlight the economic value of specific products and applications
                • Support the Global Franchise teams in the decision-making process of the brand’s strategies related to market access
                • Leads and supports the countries implementation of the market access plans within area of responsibility
                • Stays abreast of pricing and reimbursement issues and trends within area of responsibility, and regularly monitors environment for healthcare, pricing and reimbursement issues and/or opportunities; analyzes risks and opportunities and proposes how to best respond.
                • Assist in develop functional excellence, drive delivery and execution, set standards, provide guidance and ensure effective best practice for Market Access functions
                • Drive the process to secure pricing band setting and pricing approvals
                • Overall responsibility for the development of Global Payer Communication strategies (payer value proposition, aligned with the Product Value dossier developed by the HSR team) that supports the Global Product Strategy and support development of relevant payer communication tools based on subsidiary needs
                • Responsible of tender strategy

                EDUCATION/LANGUAGES
                • Undergraduate degree required, MBA preferred
                • A formal education in a Life Science is not considered essential, but intellectual capacity to understand life science-and technical issues is necessary
                • Fluency in English, both oral and written communications

                PROFESSIONAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
                • 8+ years experience in either pharmaceutical industry or consultancy company, including at least 3 years experience doing market access and pricing projects in an international environment
                • Record of success in participation on and in supporting teams
                • A formal education in a Life Science is not considered essential, but intellectual capacity to understand life science-and technical issues is necessary
                • Working knowledge (regulatory, pricing, reimbursement, healthcare practice, health systems) of major European healthcare markets
                • Track record of successfully establishing and maintaining complex, multi-country business processes

                • Understands how funding systems work and the pricing and reimbursement process; effectively applies knowledge of the market, industry trends, product attributes, and health economics to manage the pricing and reimbursement process.
                • Understands the political/legislative decision making process and how governments work at a national and local level.
