Stars Behavioral Health Group (SBHG), a large privately held behavioral health care company seeks an experienced Senior Director of Clinical Services at its headquarters in Southern California. As a member of the Executive Team, the selected candidate will develop, organize, manage, and implement various programs (clinical/non-clinical) throughout the organization. Directing a team of Senior Managers, the selected candidate will lead the professional services department’s company-wide initiatives; and have overall clinical leadership of the organization.
Reporting directly to the President & CEO, this position is also responsible for designing, developing, monitoring, and supporting the SBHG Treatment Programs to provide excellent clinical, social, educational, and human service programs. Functions include: ongoing monitoring of treatment planning and treatment groups; identifying areas of needed improvement in all program areas; providing supervision and training of effective services to program leadership staff; implementing and training new treatment approaches including Evidence-Based Practices; and the use of outcomes and other data to inform and improve practice. There will be a special focus on developing processes and pathways for SBHG to align services with Integrative HealthCare and the Affordable Care Act. The position also requires expertise in supervising all areas of clinical service delivery (e.g., psychiatry and psychology, nursing, social services, rehab, paraprofessional and peer/consumer counseling).
The Senior Director of Clinical Services has primary responsibility for the development and coordination of clinical training programs for SBHG programs on a state-wide basis. This includes developing and coordinating the provision of new employee orientation, required in-service training, and specialized clinical training to all employees. This position also provides training and presentations on agency clinical programs at conferences and to payers, and submits proposals for conference participation.
The Senior Director of Clinical Services will also be responsible for planning and developing strategies for clinical services for business development and expansion, including integration of mental health with substance abuse, primary care, human subject research, academic affiliations, clinical trainee/practicum/internship/resident programs. In addition, he/she will represent the agency in professional and industry associations, performing advocacy on public policy, and participating in federal, state, county, university, and NGO work groups and task forces.
IDEAL CANDIDATE will need to foster teamwork and have the ability to work with multiple teams within the organization to include partnering and implementing strategies set forth by the executive committee. Additionally, the candidate will develop new and unique ways to improve clinical operations of the organization and identify new service opportunities.
PhD, EdD, MSW, or MFT degree, or RN/MN
Ten plus years’ experience with seriously mentally disordered clients as a Director of Clinical Services or equivalent
Preferred but not required experience in the following areas:
*Health systems specializing in integration of behavioral health with physical medicine
*Substance abuse /addiction treatment
*Inpatient /residential treatment
*Prevention and early intervention programs
*Business development and contract negotiation
*Professional relationships with clinical leaders and scholars
*Clinical training and conference presentations
*Affiliation with academic institutions training and research programs
*Multicultural, child welfare, juvenile probation, homeless populations and services
*Public policy development and advocacy on a county, state or federal level
License or Certification
CA license as an RN, PhD, LCSW, or MFT
*Excellent ability to interact and communicate both verbally and in writing with clients, families, consumers, other staff, physicians, and the public
*Demonstrated leadership, organization, training, and management skills. Advanced knowledge of organization design and implementation strategies
*Demonstrated ability to lead a diverse clinical team
*Strong proponent of ethics and integrity in practice and work habits, and commitment to public mental health
*Knowledge of federal, state, county and local regulations, especially Title 22, Title 9, and Patient’s Rights
*Ability to visually and audibly assess client's behavior and needs
*Occasional travel in California, mainly in Southern California via car, and monthly to Northern California
