Senior EHS Analyst

Eaton Corporation's North American Automotive facility in Kearney Nebraska has an opening for a Senior Environmental, Health, & Safety Analyst.

This position supports environmental, health, safety, and security efforts at the site. Individual is accountable for: supporting EHS activities at his/her location(s), including: establishing EHS objectives and targets; internal reporting of EHS performance; communication of national, area, and local regulatory requirements, and; ensuring documents are available in the local languages. Position is responsible for: supporting site ISO/OHSAS certifications; assuring accurate and complete EHS reporting of metrics; assuring closure of MESH and regulatory agency findings on a timely basis; completion of required training for EHS personnel; supporting actions during crises; site security, supporting the creation of a strong EHS culture that engages employees throughout the site in EHS teams and processes.

The Essential functions of this role include but are not limited to the following:

a. Supports site in achieving EHS targets & objectives. Supports development, maintenance, and achievement of goals in support of corporate and business group EHS strategic initiatives.
b. Supports risk assessment at the location to identify critical EHS hazards and aspects.
c. Supports tracking of appropriate leading and lagging indicators to track EHS performance.
d. Supports creation of EHS goals for the site manager and appropriate activity based goals for the leadership team, functional managers, and front-line supervisors to drive EHS culture, compliance, and results.
e. Supports MESH element champions and facilitate their engagement in ownership of the MESH elements.
f. Supports and promotes zero incident EHS culture throughout site.
g. Supports EHS engagement through EHS teams and committees needed to accomplish the established targets and objectives for the year. E.g. Safety Team, MESH Staff Team, Emergency Response Team, Hazardous Materials Team & Fire Team
h. Works with EHS leader and MESH element champions to complete an annual evaluation of compliance for EHS country, state, and local regulations.
i. Supports efforts for third party recognition for programs that establish the site and Eaton’s EHS program as world class.
j. Provides support on using established EHS data processes such as MESH Suite to manage data.
k. Create training matrices to ensure that all training is defined and tracked to completion. Responsible for identifying and facilitating required EHS, MESH, OSHA, etc. training required for the facilities Master Training Plan. Works in conjunction with the HR Department to ensure all relevant material is updated in the Master Training Plan
l. Supports efforts to ensure that all key EHS operational controls are in place, on a PM program, and that EHS action items are resolved on a timely basis.
m. Maintains and analyzes all near-miss and accident reports, accident investigations, & OSHA recordable incidents. Provides appropriate follow up with supervisors and employees to ensure that applicable actions are implemented to prevent injuries and reoccurrences. Ensures that Staff level members and the Plant as a whole has the appropriate communication related to any incidents.
n. Administers the Worker’s Compensation (WC) process for the plant and communicates with applicable service providers and members of the Human Resources Department.
o. Prepares and maintains all documents necessary to comply with Federal/State/Local/Eaton Corporation environmental, health, and safety laws, policies, and regulations.
p. Organizes and ensure compliance with all mandatory regulator tests, e.g. Hearing tests and Physicals
q. Provides on-call support after hours and on weekends for any post-incident drug tests. Additionally will be required to provide on-call EHS support for the plant on a rotating basis.
r. Will provided necessary EHS support as required for the Hastings facility at the discretion of the Site EHS Manager
s. Provides other duties as assigned

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Adept at utilization of company-wide system for reporting EHS data and information
  • Ability to demonstrate managerial courage (e.g., managing varied interests representing potential conflicts)
  • Ability to lead and support cross-functional EHS teams
  • Prior experience or education with an emphasis in environmental, health and safety program management and employee training.
  • Bachelor's Degree in the sciences, engineering, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental discipline or equivalent from an accredited institution
  • 3 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing setting
