The Senior Employee Health & Benefits Consulting Analyst supports consultants who manage client accounts by researching, analyzing, and evaluating data from medical, dental, life and disability benefits plans and programs for employers with 500 - 5,000 employees. To fulfill this role, the analyst will handle a variety of tasks on the following topics:
Request for Proposals (RFPs): To complete the RFP process, the analyst gathers the health benefits information from a variety of sources (such as hard files, electronic files, the client and carriers), coordinates responses from the carriers and inputs data and maintains all appropriate documentation.
Client issues: The analyst will research client issues by contacting carriers and vendors on behalf of the client and determine when issues need to be escalated to a consultant.
Summary Plan Description (SPD) Reviews: Reviews the SPD from the carrier and compares it to the client's benefits for accuracy; follows up with the carriers to make any necessary changes are made.
Reporting: Collects claim and utilization data from insurance carriers on a monthly/quarterly basis and analyzes and interprets the data for trends; prepares customized,client ready reports to deliver to consultant for peer review.
BA/BS degree is preferred
One to three years health benefit experience required
Strong analytical and mathematical skills; strong command of Excel
Excellent interpersonal skills; strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment
Ability to work independently and on a team
State Life Accident & Health License must be obtained within three months of hire date
