This position is located in the Director's section of (DMA).
The Medicaid and NC Health Choice programs managed by DMA serve approximately 1.7 million children, aged, blind and/or disabled individuals yearly and provide funding to extend health care coverage to roughly 115,000 children each month. This high-profile position serves as administrative assistant to the DMA Director. Primary duties include:

Managing and providing daily work direction to an office staff of three to ensure that the Director, Division and Department Managers have adequate support staff.
Providing senior executive level secretarial support to the Director of DMA.

Scheduling and coordinating the Director’s calendar and travel to result in the most appropriate allocation of the Director’s time.

Providing leadership to DMA administrative and support staff across the division.

Extensive, effective daily interaction with the DHHS/DMA senior leaders, legislature, Governor's Office and Federal officials.

Preparing reports as requested.

Routing DMA Directors inquiries and calls

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
Must have documented ability to supervise and direct work of others in a matrixed organization, to include development of individual performance plans. Must have documented ability to support senior leaders and executive staff. Demonstrated ability to collaborate, problem-solve, and prioritize duties in complex situations. Demonstrated proficiency utilizing various software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Completion of high school or equivalent and six years of progressively responsible secretarial or clerical/administrative experience including two years of administrative or office management experience involving substantial public contact, information gathering and writing experience; or completion of two year secretarial science or business administration program and four years of responsible secretarial or clerical/administrative experience including two years of administrative or office management experience; or completion of a four-year program in a college or university preferably with major emphasis on coursework in business administration, public administration or other related fields and one year of administrative or office management experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
