Work as a self-directed prospect generator and appraisal evaluator in a targeted basin setting. This position will focus on increasing the portfolio of drillable opportunities by interpreting and mapping a broad range of geologic, geophysical, petrophysical, well, and reservoir data to identify new potential resource play opportunities.
Interpret a variety of geological data (well data, sedimentology, biostratigraphy, petrophysics, geochemisty, core data, basin history reconstruction) and integrate into the seismic interpretation to produce a complete subsurface evaluation.
Identify & mature opportunities and bring forward robust technical recommendations
Identify and recommend potential exploration opportunities and participate in on-site technical evaluations.
Identify and develop opportunities in priority focus areas using business contacts and competitive business information sources
Provide geological input for area and well reviews, and maintain updated geological interpretations and maps.
Collaborate with others on the team to ensure that specialty skills are appropriately leveraged and shared.
Degree in Geology at MSc level
Minimum of 8 years’ experience currently working in a similar role, with proven exploration experience.
Demonstrate experience in basin and play analysis, prospect generation, and volumetrics/risking.
Ability to integrate geophysical, geological and engineering data to the best possible advantage of the company.
Ability to judge quality opportunities in a timely fashion
Experience in performing risk/uncertainty assessments
Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Multi-tasking in a delivery focused and fast moving environment.
Proven ability to generate ideas and mature them through to lead and prospect status for investment decisions.
Ability to appropriately identify and characterize risks and inputs to resource estimation
Working knowledge of sequence stratigraphic principles & the ability to incorporate those interpretations into play fairway mapping.
Working knowledge of geochemistry and basin modeling and ability to incorporate those interpretations in an integrated petroleum system context.
Experienced in mining onshore US data sources such as IHS, TxRRC, State Geologic Agencies, etc. for geologic and well data.
Values the importance of technical quality, particularly when documenting in applications for new acreage vie exploration license rounds.
Able to deliver results in a flexible and energetic manner and comfortable with a “hands-on” style of working.
Experience working Gulf Coast and/or East Texas Plays preferred.
Working knowledge of GeoGraphix preferred.
