Prepares financial statements and reports for regulatory agencies, management and lines of business. Maintains general ledger and related data files. Assists with research related to application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Performs analysis of financial results. Coordinates and manages projects. Performs all other duties as assigned. Implements and performs according to established TDECU REAL standards.

1. Operational Accounting
Participates in the month-end close process by entering month end journal entries.
Reviews General Ledgers and reviews work papers for correctness, accuracy, and compliance with GAAP.
Proposes solutions for corrections as needed. Develops work papers for supporting documentation and implements corrections with approval.
Processes daily interface between the core system, mortgage system, and general ledger system.
Posts entries for third party companies into the general ledger system.
Calculates and records consolidation entries.
Runs product yield and ratio calculations in the financial reporting system.
Calculates the FAS-5 portion of the allowance for loan losses on a monthly basis.
Works with line of business managers to complete, compile and upload budgets to the financial reporting system.
2. Reporting and Analysis
Creates and publishes trial balances and various daily reports for multiple departments and/or management.
Creates weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual statistical, financial, and regulatory budget and tax reports for TDECU and subsidiaries.
Provides analytical support to line and executive management. Analyzes variances by working with line of business managers to understand cause. Documents reasons / causes for variances.
3. Financial Reconciliation
Reconciles sub ledgers for key accounts which include core system processes, loans, shares and certificates, mortgage loans, FASB, designated depository, and third party operations.
4. Project Coordination
Represents the accounting function by participating in cross functional groups for TDECU and its subsidiaries.
Acts as a liaison between accounting and the project group.
Provides project updates to the accounting team.
Coordinates and leads implementation efforts in respect to new methodologies and processes.
5. Community Relations
Actively participates in internal and external community relations activities and groups to represent the Credit Union.
(Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Bachelor or four-year degree in accounting from an accredited college or university is required.
Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) preferred.
Two to three years of similar or closely related work experience.
Experience in the public accounting environment is preferred.
3. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Working knowledge of GAAP.
Broad knowledge of economic principles, the financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
Ability to define issues, collect appropriate data, establishes facts and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
Ability to maintain high levels of accuracy and exercise close attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel. Working knowledge of Microsoft Access.
Ability to organize, plan work, and coordinate cross-functional projects.
Ability to partner with internal business clients to accomplish objectives.
Demonstrated willingness and ability to work independently and assume responsibility.
Ability to leverage technology for the analysis of data or implementation of processes.
