Senior Graphic Artist Telephonics -

Prepares a variety of skilled graphic design and layout work in preparation of various posters, exhibits, advertisements, slides, brochures, books, newsletters and flyers using various production techniques which may include computer graphic systems and software. Incumbents in this classification are required to work independently and within established deadlines inherent to graphic design industry. Designs electronic and printed material for a variety of company publications, displays, proposals, and other media as appropriate.
Creates and designs graphics for layout of posters, slides, overhead transparencies, newsletters, brochures, booklets, flyers and logos as requested by client using traditional and computer graphic methods. Performs required preparatory work such as layout and paste-up in order to prepare camera-ready artwork for production; may design books as a staff member of a publishing house.
Creates electronically designed page layouts and imports word processing files into page layouts; may develop web-based graphics.
Operates various graphic design equipment such as graphic computers, cameras, printing and lettering equipment.
Confers with clients, editors, marketing persons and others regarding project specifications such as paper stock, graphic content, layout and media requirements; may create composites and develop concepts depending on needs.
Writes bid specifications for jobs assigned to outside vendors; coordinates production of material with outside vendors by monitoring jobs in progress, resolving technical problems, proofing material and ensuring deadlines are met.
Performs location photography and may perform photo processing.
Creates and designs technical drawings and illustrations.
Designs and constructs visual displays and exhibits. Determines materials and equipment best suited for job.
Maintains department files of completed assignments; maintains accurate logs of work in progress such as time devoted to project and materials used.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
Knowledge of computer-generated graphics programs.
Knowledge and skill in graphic design and layout.
Knowledge of printing procedures and requirements.
Knowledge of photography and photo processing techniques.
Skill in both verbal and written communication.
Skill in the utilization of specified computerized graphic design programs.
Skill in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign and Acrobat)
Photography experience a plus
Interest in military hardware a plus
Must have a background that would permit the U.S. Department of Defense to issue a Secret Clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Required Experience
EDUCATION: Associate's degree in Graphic Art or related field
EXPERIENCE: Four of more years experience in graphic design and layout, illustration, or commercial art; OR, Six years experience in graphic design and layout, illustration, or commercial art; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
