SDI is looking for a Senior Hardware Engineer for a 6 months contract for our client located in Mayfield Heights, OH.
  • Work closely with other staff to help define and design current and future communications networks at the physical layer.

  • The primary responsibilities are selection and design of connection systems, cables, high speed backplanes and transceivers.

  • This role is a key technical analysis position that will interface with hardware groups within client and standards groups throughout the world.

  • Participate in relevant industry standards to contribute and help set the direction of industry standards for high-speed communication networks and protocols.

  • Interact with the HW engineering teams to create constraints and requirements to ensure successful communications interfaces meeting industry standards and EMC requirements.

  • Participate in the definition of product requirements, proof-of-concept and feasibility studies; conduct independent research as required.

  • Develop block diagrams create schematics and integrate design blocks and interface.

  • Conduct functional circuit verification through simulation or other means to ensure product performance and quality

  • Possesses ability to model high-speed communications systems similar to DDR3, SATA, Gigabit Ethernet, and LVDS applying s-parameters to TDR analysis.

  • Uses transmission line theory and associated tools to model system performance.

  • Work cooperatively in a multi-disciplined team environment.

  • Demonstrates well-developed verbal and composition skills.

  • Influence internal and external customers and solicit cooperation from other departments and teams.

  • Take initiative in process and methodology improvements.

  • Participate in new technology investigations and recommend new directions.

  • Mentors other engineers and technicians.

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and implement transmission line theory as it relates to communications interface designs and layouts.

  • The primary responsibilities of this position are the development, support and modeling of high-speed connectors, cables, transceivers, and PCBs.

  • This role is a key technical analysis position that will interface with other functional groups within client, including embedded firmware, ASIC development, operations, project management and international standards groups throughout the world.

  • Major responsibilities include the application of high-speed communications analysis to measure and model signal integrity on Gigabit cable & PCB bus interfaces.

  • Participate in relevant industry standards to contribute and help set the direction of industry standards for high-speed communication networks and protocols.

  • Interact with the HW engineering teams to create constraints and requirements to ensure successful communications interfaces meeting industry standards and EMC requirements.

  • Possesses ability to model high-speed communications systems similar to DDR3, SATA, Gigabit Ethernet, and LVDS applying S-parameters to TDR analysis.

  • Participate in the definition of product requirements, proof-of-concept and feasibility studies; conduct independent research as required.

  • Exposure to RF communication principles both in the time and frequency domain.

  • Develop block diagrams create schematics and integrate design blocks and interface;

  • Conduct functional circuit verification through simulation or other means to ensure product performance and quality

  • Uses transmission line theory and associated tools to model system performance.

  • Work cooperatively in a multi-disciplined team environment.

  • Demonstrates well-developed verbal and composition skills.

  • Influence internal and external customers and solicit cooperation from other departments and teams.

  • Participate in new technology investigations and recommend new directions;

  • Characterized microprocessor-based circuit interfaces to determine jitter and margin on high-speed interfaces similar to DDR3, SATA, PCIe, and triple speed Ethernet.
