Job title: Senior Hardware System Integration Engineer
Location: Cambridge, MA or Santa Barbara, CA
Quality is one of Sonos’ highest priorities. As a Hardware System Integration Engineer you will be responsible for owning the integration of all the relevant hardware sub-systems which make up our products and for ensuring that the hardware product quality meets or exceeds the level that our customers have come to expect. You will be an integral member of the product design team, defining integration strategies, defining and implementing verification tests designed to insure that our hardware functions as specified. You will have overall responsibility for hardware product quality throughout the development lifecycle. This includes writing integration and test plans, developing automated testing, communicating the results and working with our manufacturing organization to ensure a smooth transition into volume manufacturing.
Your main duties and responsibilities:
Define system integration strategies and plans including integration of multiple sub-assemblies and diagnostic and system software.
Develop comprehensive product level design verification test plans.
Own performance and tracking of DVT testing at US and Asian sites.
Document test results and failure analysis. Capture, analyze, and summarize defect results. Drive/own root cause
analysis of all failures.
Review sub-assembly (or module level) design verification plans.
Develop and implement automated and manual system verification tests.
Make recommendations to the design team.
Develop regression test suites and documentation.
Ensure and review the quality of DVT across all products.
Travel to China to assist contract manufacturers with DVT activities at their site.
BSEE, BSME or equivalent.
5+ years experience in a hardware design environment with demonstrable experience driving product quality.
Knowledge of transducer and audio amplifier hardware.
Audio and acoustic test expertise strong plus.
RF and WiFi test expertise strong plus.
Excellent cross functional communication skills with a multi site development team.
Excellent written communication skills.
Experience with integrating multiple sub-systems including software is a strong plus.
Scripting languages for automated testing. Perl preferred, python and TCL/Expect a strong plus.
Experience working with Asian suppliers.
