The Global Manager Research Team assists in driving our clients' decision making around the selection, monitoring and de-selection of investment managers and is a critical element of our Investment Line of Business. We have one of the largest global manager research teams in the industry with almost 130 researchers following one global, integrated research process. Within the Global Manager Research Team, we have a very large Hedge Fund team located in the major financial centers of the world.
The Investment business provides consulting and advisory services to pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, endowments, foundations and charities and wealth managers across the globe. Delegated Investment Services (DIS) is an exciting part of our business which is growing in response to increasing demand from clients. This is particularly true in the hedge fund area where clients are looking to invest directly for the first time rather than via a fund of funds. For hedge fund professionals, this will mean working proactively with colleagues in other disciplines to create a broad diversified portfolio for clients, or delivering a stand-alone hedge fund mandate, potentially on a fiduciary basis.
We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Hedge Fund Consultant within our global research team. One of the key elements of this role will be to help grow our hedge fund DIS business in North America. In doing so, you will centralize, guide and implement hedge fund marketing efforts across regions, working in conjunction with our researchers and investment consultants. The Senior Hedge Fund Consultant will also proactively take ideas to clients, drive research agendas and processes, and produce intellectual capital and market views.
Guide new business initiatives for the provision of TW hedge fund services in North America
Support achievement of overall financial goals for Hedge Funds in the region
Support client consultants in servicing key hedge fund clients and participating in new business presentations
Advise clients to help them determine their overall hedge fund strategy, their commitment schedules and likely manager structure
Raise TW's profile in the hedge fund area and position the firm as a premium, quality investment consultant in this space
Deliver high quality manager research consulting advice to internal/external clients as appropriate
Develop trusted advisor relationship through effective communication and efficient, quality execution of projects
Service clients primarily through the writing of papers, presentations on specialist topics and managers and assisting consultants in other areas of relevant client work
Build relationships with internal and external sources to maximize the penetration of target accounts
Interface with colleagues from other practices and regions on assignments that reflect the client's broader business issues
Assist in the development and presentation of research findings to the global Investment practice
Work closely with colleagues across the global manager research team to ensure identification of best in breed hedge funds
Work with senior hedge fund team members and the Portfolio Construction Group to help create bespoke hedge fund portfolios for clients
Build relationships internally and externally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams
Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels
15 or more years of hedge fund management, research or products specialist experience, ideally in a client-service oriented environment (fund of funds, consulting or portfolio management); experience with hedge fund managers is required
Experience and proven success in new business generation within the hedge fund arena
Strong network of relationships within the hedge fund investor community
Thorough understanding of the institutional investment industry and hedge fund research best practice
Strong client focus and proven track record of attracting, building and managing client relationships
Team player comfortable in a professional services environment with the ability to effectively debate and influence people internally and externally at all levels
Undergraduate degree required; MBA and relevant professional qualification such as CPA or CFA preferred
Ability to travel is required
