Senior Help Desk Specialist - Falls Church, VA

Position Title: Senior Help Desk Specialist - Falls Church, VA

Ideal candidate with have both networking experience and systems administration experience. Ideally 5 to 10 years hands on networking/system administration experience and 2-4 years VMware hands on experience

Certification in VCP, MCP, MCSE or equivalent is required

Must be able to perform by himself and with minimum assistance

Hands on experience with deployment and maintenance of VMware vSphere 5.0 virtual environment including troubleshooting issues that may arise in the environment

Experience installing/configuring/maintaining ESX host, VSphere vSphere Client, VMware vCenter Server and EMC SAN Storage

Creating/cloning VM's, vMotion, HA/DRS, VM performance monitoring and fine tuning

Experience with Dell PowerEdge servers, rack set up, cabling and maintenance (updating BIOS, firmware, NIC drivers, Raid setup, OS Installation and updates etc.)

EMC storage provisioning and management

Networking: Experience with networking protocols: IP Addressing, TCP/IP, DNS

System Administration: Windows Server 2003/2008 (The candidate should have experience maintaining and supporting Microsoft Windows server environment.)

MS Exchange 2003/2010: Knowledge of Mgmt. console, shell, management and migration

MS SharePoint Server 2010: Install, administration, setup sites, migrate content, assign permissions etc.

MS SQL Server: Install, manage, backups and restores

Microsoft Active Directory, GOP, Scripting etc.

Understanding of storage protocols ISCSI, NFS, CIFS etc.

Understanding of LAN switching and VLANs (desired but not necessary)

Resolving all general helpdesk trouble tickets

Candidate must be able to perform all helpdesk related tasks, setup printers, clone laptops, new equipment setup, audio/visual equipment setup

Basic knowledge of IP/PBX (Assigning phones, setting up voicemail etc.) is desired but not necessary

Candidate must be available 24/7 and must be able to perform duties after hours and/or weekends (updates, installation, migrations, backups etc.)
