IMPAQ is seeking a full-time Senior Information Technology (IT) Engineer to provide effective and efficient day-to-day IT support to users.

The qualified candidate will provide support for our network configuration and infrastructure consolidation and optimization. The environment supports users with the capability of redundant network topology. IMPAQ hosts more than 100 pieces of networking equipment such as firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, routers, switches, load balancers, virtualization environment, application servers, content filtering and VPN appliances.

The Senior IT Engineer will work most closely with the IMPAQ IT Director and IT staff to manage the network resources/infrastructure, servers and users. The job also requires the Senior IT engineer to identify, diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve computer software/hardware related issues.
  • Manages an Active Directory for the domain including DHCP, DNS servers
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the basics behind the internet and its workings (DNS, Security, IP Routing, HTTP, SSL ,VPN, Email Routing, SPAM, etc.)
  • Configure and setup Cisco/Fortigate Firewalls, VPN Concentrators and Security appliances for the access to vital business applications
  • Design, setup and configure complex switching environments
  • Design, setup and configure complex wireless networking that supports open or secured access and the ability to support voice and video applications
  • Performs daily network maintenance and administration and management over network resources including SAN (Equallogic, Netapp, EMC) , NAS, DAS, Virtualized machines on VMWARE platform, file servers, Configuration mangement, Data Protection Manager, Lync and GPO management
  • Assist in the design of multi-server, multi-offce environments including IP address schemes and DNS
  • Performs IT-related tasks including: UPS monitoring, running hardware diagnostics; troubleshooting hardware and printer functionality; configuring hardware for new users; maintaining computer equipment and supplies inventory; IT-related documentation and participating in disaster recovery rehearsals
  • Performs daily operation check on servers and network, including email mailboxes size, disk space usages
  • Understanding of network monitoring systems, security network scanning tool (Retina) and Packet analyzer
  • Manages other application systems as assigned by the IT Director
  • Provides training and coaching to junior IT staff members
  • Prioritizes and schedules IT requests. Escalate issues when required
  • Coordinates equipment procurement and repairs with vendors including, but not limited to, Dell, HP, and Cisco, Fortinet
  • May help perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, and configuring systems and applications
  • May help set up requested IT equipment (video, audio, telecommunication) for meetings and conferences
  • Works independently under the broad oversight and direction of the IT Director
  • Performs other IT duties as assigned

  • B.S. degree in Computer Science or Information Technology is required.

Knowledge and Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years full-time IT Support experience
  • Current CCNA and/or CCDA Certification a plus
  • VMWare Certification or experience is required
  • Deltek experience a plus
  • Understanding of IP based platforms and addressing, DHCP, DNS, Cisco/Fortigate products and technology, client /server computing
  • Working knowledge and experience with Networking and Security, Windows 2003/2008 Server, Active Directory, Exchange 2003 Wireless devices, HP/Dell/Toshiba printers, Remote access/VPN, Microsoft Office 2003 and OS, Exchange and/or SQL and SharePoint/ Lync , Hardware/Software troubleshooting
  • Experienced in IT Security and Disaster Recovery Plan including backup, remote backup and restore
  • Knowledge of VoIP implementation and support
  • Some SQL Database experience preferred
  • Knowledge in wireless printers and network set up
  • Linux (Cent-OS/Red Hat) and PDA/Smartphone experience is a plus
  • Proficient in MS Office products and MS Windows O/S
  • Ability to maintain and manage network resources such as Network switches, Windows domain Active Directory environment without supervision
  • Keen ability to understand typical network infrastructure and be able to configure simple network setting such as DHCP, DNS, ISA and AD
  • Proficient in managing user permissions, setting different users groups, using GPO
  • Knowledge in Exchange server setup and administering user mailboxes
  • The ability to bend, squat, crawl or climb 75-95% of the time

  • Ability to handle difficult or sensitive situations in a professional manner
  • Able to adapt to a growing user base and changing work environment

  • Must be proactive and self-driven, and have the ability to resolve problems with minimal direction and oversight
  • Must demonstrate a positive work attitude that reflects favorably on the company and the IT Department
