About the Opportunity
OpenSky seeks a senior infrastructure consultant with broad IT infrastructure knowledge to perform an infrastructure discovery and analysis through a combination of reviews of existing documentation, manual inspection, management system diagnostics analysis, and interviews with key IT stakeholders and support staff. This information gathered is to be analyzed to identify potential shortcomings within the current IT infrastructure hardware and supported mission-critical applications as related to high-availability.
Conduct discovery interviews to determined high availability business requirements and obtain details relative to how the in-scope infrastructure and applications are configured for failover and high availability
Manually assess routers, switches, servers, and other relevant infrastructure components to collect the information necessary to determine the effectiveness of the configuration to failover as designed or otherwise meet our client’s requirements for high-availability
Review the configuration of applications such as Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, Citrix, and WebSense to ascertain whether or not the each is properly configured for failover and high-availability
Use available management tools to conduct an assessment of the infrastructure and determine if all relevant components are properly configured for failover and high availability
Perform an analysis of all the information gathered to identify gaps and/or risk with the current configuration relative to failover and high availability
Document the findings and recommendations using the OpenSky template for delivery to the client
10 or more years of broad IT infrastructure experience supporting an array of technologies including the majority of the following: Microsoft Windows, Cisco networking routers and switches, Exchange, firewalls, Citrix, Blackberry Enterprise Server, WebSense, and RightFax.
Experience with common management tools such as SolarWinds and CiscoWorks
Strong analytical skills and excellent written and oral communication skills
In-depth understanding of high availability and failover concepts and techniques, such as HSRP and Microsoft clustering.
Ability to quickly identify and understand how an software product is configured to take advantage of the underlying infrastructure to ensure failover and high availability
