Develop, design and update new and existing educational products using instructional design processes, such as the ADDIE and SAM models to serve our member base and advance the HR profession. Conduct needs analyses and audits to assess member needs. Projects include virtual and classroom programs for both domestic and global audiences.
Design new SHRM educational products using adult learning principals. Create project plans, including an executive summary, timeline and budget. Make recommendations on the most appropriate format and delivery method. Understand and make recommendations on the use of multi-media, if appropriate. Choose appropriate exercises and supporting material to enhance learning. Collaborate with internal stakeholders regarding the product features so that it can be properly marketed, priced and introduced to our members. Select and conduct meetings with Subject Matter Experts to incorporate their feedback into the product. Implement beta tests to measure audience reaction and design surveys that accurately capture participantsÂ’ feedback. When appropriate, develop tools to assess participant comprehension. Conduct focus group sessions in conjunction with SHRM programs. Synthesize the results and write reports with recommendations. Conduct annual audits of SHRM products and seminars to determine if updates are necessary, redesign and update current SHRM products to reflect new laws and changes in the workplace and inform the appropriate SHRM departments of the new features/content for inclusion in future brochures. Make recommendations on how our programs can be tailored to provide custom solutions and modify existing products to meet the needs of corporate clients. Contribute to idea generation for emerging programs. Research current and emerging e-learning technologies such as: wikis, blogs, collaborative or social networking tools, mobile devices etc. Coaching and mentoring junior designer(s)
This position will require coaching and mentoring junior designer(s)

Bachelor's required, Master's Degree preferred in Instructional Design, Education, Educational Technology, or related field. Minimum of 5-7 yearsÂ’ experience in designing Instructor Led Virtual and Classroom Training.
Proficient in executing all stages of the instructional design process - needs assessment, design, development, implementation and evaluation - with an emphasis on development and maintenance; developing content with an educational purpose for publication, web-based delivery, and classroom use. Experience in developing education programs for private or public sector organizations HR subject matter expertise preferred. Ability to define training objectives, develop a plan of instruction, and establish learning principles; knowledge of learning outcomes (e.g., cognitive, skill, affective) and the ability to incorporate learning outcomes into training design and development. Ability to translatedesign solutions into instructional materials such as job aids, self-study materials, facilitator guides, and facilitator-led materials as necessary. Ability to conduct focus groups, discussions, role-play simulations, case studies, and experiential activities. Excellent written, verbal, listening and people skills, with a strong desire to develop educational materials that reflect and advance overall corporate objectives. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel to compile course development. documentation, including the preparation of graphics. Experience using authoring tools, such as Articulate, Captivate, Lectora, etc. Experience using virtual training platforms, such as Adobe Connect, WebEx, etc. Ability to design synchronous games and activities for virtual training environments. Excellent project management and critical thinking skills. Strong editing and proofreading skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently, collaborate with others, manage multiple assignments and work successfully in a fast-paced environment. High attention to detail. Ability to perform under minimal supervision. Ability to understand and communicate concepts quickly and accurately. Accomplished skills in presentation development.
