Virginia Housing Development Authority (VHDA) is Virginia's self-supporting state housing finance authority. Our mission is to help Virginians obtain quality, affordable housing. The Audit & Risk team is seeking a detail-oriented, experienced audit professional to join us. The Senior Auditor will take full responsibility for planning and performing audits including risk assessments, audit programs, test steps, and the final report. The successful candidate will present audit findings and recommendations to Senior Management and will be responsible for conducting IT, operational, financial, and compliance audits in accordance with applicable regulations, policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, information systems, finance, or a related business field or equivalent experience required. MBA is desired. At least 5 years of IT, operational and financial audit experience. Preferred candidate will have experience in the banking/mortgage industry. CPA/CIA/CISA preferred.


Knowledge of auditing, IT controls, financial analysis ? Strong technical audit and operational skills with a comprehensive understanding of Internal Auditing Standards ? Ability to work independently and effectively as both an individual contributor and team participant ? Proven ability to collaborate, initiate and maintain cross-department relationships ? Strong detailed analytical, negotiating and reasoning skills required ? Effective time management, multi-tasking and organizational skills to meet deadlines as well as the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities ? Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear, straightforward, and professional manner ? Ability to interact positively with all levels of staff and management ? Demonstrated ability in making practical, value-added and best practice recommendations to improve risk management practices and the efficiency and effectiveness of operations ? Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook. No travel required.
