Under limited supervision, applies and ensures the appropriate Statutory and GAAP accounting treatment for investments and investment-related accounts. Analyzes and reconciles investment accounts and investment systems. Performs the reporting functions of investments, which include preparation and review of investment footnotes, MD&A, supplemental investment information, investment surveys, annual statement reporting and statutory audited financial statements.
Performs accounting functions and maintains and prepares month-end, quarter-end and annual reports (GAAP & STAT) for assigned asset and investment accounting areas. Ensures compliance with GAAP and NAIC guidelines. Prepares and/or reviews GAAP reporting disclosures. Also, reviews the investment pages of annual statement, including footnote disclosures and the general interrogatories, statutory audited financial statements and other supplemental information as needed.
Analyzes investment process flow through assessment of current systems, considering information inputs and outputs, to ensure adequate controls are developed and documented to ensure that all investment transactions are properly accounted for and all questions and issues are resolved in a timely manner.
Coordinates and summarizes investment information for internal and external examiners.
Researches, reviews and analyzes investment data/reports, provides solutions to resolve issues, and prepares reports.
Provides support to Executive Director, as needed, including special projects and indirect supervision of Investment Accounting Analysts.
Maintains working relationships with external contacts which includes investment advisors, investment accounting managers, banks, NAIC, external/internal examiners and with internal departments.
Ensures that current processes of reporting investments are effective and efficient, and makes recommendations for improvement.
Works with other functional areas in RGA Re to achieve efficient and effective accounting and reporting practices and procedures and responds to and requests from other functional areas on various inquires.
Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements :
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent related work experience
8+ years accounting or auditing experience
Basic Word, intermediate Excel and SQL/Query skills
Competent knowledge in Statutory and GAAP accounting
Advanced knowledge of accounting/finance theory and application and financial reporting
Advanced level of people management skills, demonstrating the ability to lead, mentor, and develop associates; including the ability to delegate key areas of responsibility
Advanced oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge.
Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions.

Master’s Degree, CPA
Progress towards FLMI
PeopleSoft or other accounting software applications experience
