Contribute to the financial success of FBL by researching, developing and executing, under the guidance of the portfolio manager, investment portfolio strategies and specific securities transactions for various portfolios.

Monitor and report on financial market and overall economic environment for potential risks and profitable opportunities for the various portfolios. Gather and report data regarding overall fixed income markets and various market sectors. Develop and recommend portfolio strategies including duration adjustments and sector allocations. Analyze individual securities for profitable opportunities consistent with developed portfolio strategies. Execute trades for the various portfolios under the guidance of the portfolio manager and within board established investment guidelines. Respond to inquiries of the department by using investment management systems to answer surveys, requests of regulatory bodies, and in-house needs. Conduct research using the Internet and navigate other investment systems. Monitor securities pricing integrity and operations to ensure compliance with Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) regulations. Analyze and prepare written reports and oral presentations regarding specific securities and portfolios for review by the investment committee, outside clients, various boards of directors and other public audiences. Research, analyze and under review of the portfolio manager, implement portfolio strategies for various client portfolios. Prepare and present summary investment reports to various clients including boards of directors and Investment Committees.

College degree (Finance preferred) plus a minimum of five years related work experience (2 – 3 years as an Investment Analyst) preferred. MBA and CFA designation preferred, or actively working towards. In-depth knowledge of spreadsheet programs as well as Excel, Word, and the Internet required. Ability to meet deadlines and work in a team environment. Must know and understand state and federal rules and regulations regarding compliance. Strong mathematical, organizational, analytical and decision making skills preferred. Familiarity with statistics and basic finance concepts. Limited travel required. Strong oral and written communication skills are required. Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
