Investment Management Americas ("IMA") is a division of JPMAM and US Funds Platform Management is responsible for business management and oversight for IMA’s pooled vehicles including mutual funds, collective investment funds and hedge funds (collectively referred to as "Funds"). Platform Management reports to the Chief Administrative Officer/President of JPMorgan Funds.
The Senior Investment Writer is responsible for technical investment writing needs within US Funds Platform Management, with opportunity to partner with JPMAM’s Marketing department on projects and initiatives across the broader JPMAM organization.
Primary responsibilities within US Funds Platform Management include working with investment professionals to develop content for Management Discussion of Fund Performance (MDFP) included in shareholder reports. The Writer will also coordinate with the various stakeholders involved in the MDFP process to address comments and finalize these communications. In addition, the writer will have opportunities to partner with the Marketing Insights team and investment professionals across the organization in the delivery of industry leading insights. The Insights team manages the production and distribution of the firm’s intellectual capital in three key areas: the markets and economy, investment strategies and opportunities and retirement. Respectively, the branded programs: Market Insights, Investment Insights and Retirement Insights. The Insights team also includes an investment writing group that works directly with senior portfolio managers, analysts and strategists to develop original insight pieces and more extensive research papers.
In this role, the individual will be responsible for:
Participating in upfront planning to determine key area of focus for MDFPs.
Interviewing Portfolio Managers and/or Client Portfolio Managers and reviewing attribution reports to capture key drivers of market and fund performance and portfolio positioning.
Partnering with investment professionals, Funds Treasury, Legal and Compliance to address comments, and finalize MDFP for inclusion in shareholder reports.
Technical writing projects including fund and investor communications, investment strategy updates and various other technical writing needs within JP Morgan Asset Management, including: investment and market commentaries, white papers and client conference session summaries.
7+ years experience in technical investment writing/editorial experience, preferably at a mutual fund company, asset management firm or other financial services company
Strong knowledge of fixed income and equity securities and derivatives, markets and investment strategies (knowledge of traditional and alternatives institutional products and pension-related issues a plus), with the ability to translate complex information and concepts into shareholder friendly communications
Knowledge of mutual fund reporting and compliance requirements with regard to MDFPs and shareholder communications, a plus
Self motivated, results oriented, and driven with excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
Team oriented and comfortable interfacing with a broad range of stakeholders at all levels in an organization
