To facilitate submittal of companywide land deal packages to Land Committee for review and approval, as well as assisting in other corporate Finance functions including, but not limited to, budget/forecast process, cash management duties, and other areas designed to provide efficient and value-added analyses to senior management as requested by Corporate VP of Finance and Assistant Treasurer.

Land Administration
  • Coordinate Land Committee calendar and expected land package submittal timing
  • Procure divisional land deal pipeline updates
  • Receive, review, and provide edits for draft land package submittals via communication with divisional land leaders. Reviews will focus on both financial modeling logistics as well as overall deal structure, risk areas, package consistency, etc.
  • Maintain summary of and communicate to senior leaders approved deals and facilitate divisional follow-ups for Land Committee approval conditions
  • Maintain electronic storage of deal package data support and follow-up correspondence for future reference
  • Prepare various summaries to track status of controlled lots, dollars spent on land purchases, active community counts, and land acquisition and development capital allocations
  • Understand relationship between key income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow components, and types of deal flow needed to achieve such established targets
  • Prepare reports to compare current performance of approved projects with original approval underwriting
  • Act as liaison and support resource for divisional land leaders, finance leaders and corporate departments including corporate executives, Strategic Operations, Legal, and Accounting
Finance & Other

· Creation of monthly Finance Package components incl uding historical metrics and forward-looking projections of various financial data

· Administer surety bonds and letters of credit via interaction with divisions and Legal

· Generate various system reports and provide exception-based data to VP of Finance and Assistant Treasurer for follow-up with Senior management and divisional personnel

· Assist in companywide initiatives to improve cost-effectiveness in areas such as external document storage, copier/printer administration, etc.

· Assist with Budget/Forecast process

· Assist Corporate VP of Finance & Assistant Treasurer as necessary

· Coordinate activities with other departments/divisions

Requirements:
Education:

BBA in Accounting or Finance preferred. MBA preferred

Experience:
  • 5+ years relevant homebuilding experience in both Finance and Land Acquisitions/Entitlements
Technical Skills:
  • Advanced computer skills with expertise in Microsoft Windows Office applications; mid to high-level Excel user
  • Ability to generate spreadsheet models efficiently as needed with “what-if” scenarios
Interpersonal/Communication Skills:
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to communicate in professional manner with all levels in the organization, with customer service focus
  • Ability to write and communicate complex information and procedures in an easily comprehensible manner (i.e. know your audience)
  • Frequent interaction with other departments and divisions
  • Ability to manage conflict and resolve problems in professional manner on daily basis, with persons of all backgrounds and levels of responsibility
  • Frequent interaction with CEO, COO, CFO, VP of Land Acqusition, VP of Finance, Region and Division Presidents, and corporate departments

  • Accurate, with keen attention to detail while staying clearly focused on big picture; someone who “knows his/her audience” and can present Finance Department in positive light
