The Sr. Manager of Product Development is a strong individual contributor who identifies, evaluates, recommends and delivers innovations within the Ethernet and MPLS product categories on behalf of CenturyLink's Market Segments.
The Sr. Lead Product Manager leads internal cross functional teams including external partners through the product development process.
He or she, is accountable for delivering new product solutions that benefit customers of CenturyLink from concept to market implementation.
The ideal candidate possesses exceptional communication and leadership skills characterized by the ability to consistently recognize emerging opportunities; paint a picture of what can be achieved for executive leadership, and the broader organization.
Rally resources against the vision (human, financial, and emotional commitments); and drive exceptional execution of new products through to the front-line organizations.
Research/stay abreast of technological, market and competitive developments within the product categories of focus at CenturyLink.
Lead 'discovery teams consisting of engineering, operations, and IT resources to enhance ideation at the pre-concept stage.
Apply innovation/ideation principles and tools to create ideas for new products.
Conduct research of various types, technical trials and develop prototypes of new products for possible development.
Ensure development of business case/financial analysis and ownership of assumptions critical to success.
Direct management of multi-departmental Product Development Core Teams, to see projects through to completion, on time and on budget.
Manage the preparation and analysis of technical options, and make recommendations on development issues.
Real-time risk management, issue resolution and resource balancing.
Manage the development of standards for testing.
Planning of lab/customer trials for proof-of-concept.
Coordinate with subject matter experts, representing all involved in delivering the service, for example: operational and technology leaders, marketing, sales, legal, business development.
Responsible for use and refinement of the product development process, including technology assessment, concept validation and refinement, technical input to business case development, and detailed definition of product technical requirements.
Define and manage vendor interoperability; single point of contact for outsourced solutions vendors.
Manage development of detailed Product Functional Requirements.
Ensure development of key artifacts including detailed process flows, wireframes, mockups, etc.
Manage the preparation of technical requirements section of product requirements documents to include network, device and IT.
Assists with issues resolution and vendor management during development phase. Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Business or related field, or equivalent in training and experience.
Minimum of 10 years experience in telecom or related industry.
Expertise in multiple functional disciplines in the communications industry including technology, strategy, marketing, product management, development, and engineering.
Minimum 5 years experience in team leading and building, including matrix managed team leadership.
Experience with senior executive communication and interaction. Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of two years
Experience in product management, or product development.
Experience with Cloud and Ethernet technology
Experience with Cloud and Ethernet product development
Project Management certification
