Qualifications & Requirements

Ideal candidates will have at least 5 years’ experience in litigation support in a law firm environment, in addition to demonstrable communication and technical skills. Thorough knowledge of the litigation process, e-discovery, electronic document preservation, and an understanding of the use of technology to support litigation efforts is a must. Expertise in Concordance, LiveNote, CaseMap, Trial Director, Access and Excel desired. This individual must also possess the ability to meet critical deadlines, consult clients, interact with users of varying skill level, have strong verbal and written communication skills. Certification in market-specific applications and/or mainstream office applications is a plus. Bachelor’s Degree preferred, though a combination of associate’s degree and commensurate experience will be considered.

Essential Job Functions

The Senior Litigation Support Specialist will be responsible for consulting directly with the attorneys and legal assistants on case projects to: identify the technical requirements and resources necessary for the project; assist with managing and choosing vendors and technology to be used; define the associated litigation support tasks of the project; and, when appropriate perform high level tasks, or delegate both high and low level tasks to Specialists II, Specialists I and Assistants available to them.

Train and support litigation attorneys and legal assistants on applications specific to the litigation practice:
Refer requests for assistance in other offices to LS Manager.
Raise issues and conflicts to LS Manager for assistance in resolution.
Work with LS Manager and Technology Services staff in office to implement new technologies for litigation practice.
Apply firm standards in both technology and practices as identified by Firm-wide LS Manager and directed by LS Manager.
Consult with and advise attorneys, clients, and legal assistants about litigation support (LS) technology, e-discovery, electronic document preservation, and electronic document collection as it relates to their cases.
Assist users in determining specific database requirements and train users on databases.
Responsible for the design, training, and supervision of LS databases for client and firm work.
Prepare RFPs for various cases/projects for vendors and make recommendations on proposals received.
Provide support for imaging and electronic discovery litigation-related projects.
Work with vendors, legal assistants and attorneys to customize LS projects.
Design training materials (or supplements to existing materials) tailored to the litigation practice.
Provide one-on-one or group training for litigation attorneys and legal assistants.
Promote the use of technical automation tools for case management and LS.
Evaluate current technologies used in litigation practice.
Implement new LS technologies for particular case teams.
Develop in-depth expertise in current K&E litigation-related applications.
Attend litigation practice group and case team meetings.

A Senior Specialist must be able to prioritize and assign daily work to themselves and others assigned to work with them. They must be organized, be able to multi-task, and operate well under time constraints and similar influences. Above average written and oral communication skills are required, as are the abilities to cultivate customer relationships, and relationships with co-workers.
