Faithful+Gould seeks an energetic, highly motivated self starter to join a longstanding client in the Portland area in a capital expansion project as a Senior MEP Estimator or Senior Electrical Estimator. In this role you will prepare cost estimates, complete pricing and cost benchmarking validations, and provide specialty cost intelligence deliverables. You will utilize industry experience to develop cost estimates reflective of local market and project conditions.
Senior Estimators responsibilities include:
Analyzes blueprints and other documents and prepares detailed cost estimates. Responsible to perform accurate quantity takeoffs of available design documents.
Leads the development of conceptual and feasibility cost model estimates utilizing historic benchmarking information and industry experience in order to develop complete early stage cost estimate forecasting.
Obtains accurate and up to date pricing information from databases, contractors, suppliers, etc. to utilize in estimates.
Reviews inputted estimate takeoff information in CATO for MEP disciplines in order to provide check to assess accuracy and suitability for project type and specific project requirements.
Reviews and finalizes estimate unit cost pricing to reflect current market conditions and specific project logistics. Review historic benchmark cost information and highlight variances.
Corresponds professionally with architects and engineers for clear understanding of project scope during preparation of estimate. Develops relationships with members of A/E firms and project team members.
Prepares cost reconciliation between two or more estimates, and explain variance cost drivers.
Champions delivery of Constructive Expertise at all aspects of project.
Indetifies partnership opportunities and capitalizes on "add-on" revenue goals.
Assists in the identification of strategic accounts.
Works in conjunction with the Faithful+Gould marketing and business development teams to follow up on business leads.
Grows long-term relationships with clients and key consultants and capitalizes on equity and partnership opportunities.
Maintains awareness of new and emerging industry practices and the potential application on client engagements.
Raises our visibility through involvement in local industry organizations.
Possess a thorough understanding of Faithful+Gould's corporate wide capabilities, technical preferences and technical direction.
Ensures effective communication between project team members and key stakeholders including client, consultants, contractors, and public entitities.
Serves as key participant in team and client meetings, acting as chair as appropriate.
Keeps the Faithful+Gould project team well informed of changes within the organization and general corporate news.
Effectively communicates relevant project/practice information to superiors and peers in other practices.
Delivers engaging, informative, well-organized presentations.
Confronts issues openly and quickly.
Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.
Tactfully communicates difficult/sensitive information.
Manages day to day client interaction and expectation for large-scale capital expansion project
Anticipates clients needs and proposes alternative business solutions.
Continually seeks and capitalizes upon opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships
Possess a knowledge base of client's business, organization and objectives.
Builds expert knowledge in our industry and conveys knowledge to others.
Lends expertise to internal teams and committees.
Possess a thorough understanding of Faithful+Goulds core capabilities, reviews and complies with all company and client safety policies and procedures.
We are seeking candidates with the following skills and qualifications:
Seven to ten years or more of progressive MEP and/or Electrical construction industry estimating experience.
Bachelor's degree in Construction, Quality Surveying or a related Engineering field. An industry relevant degree is preferred but equivalent experience in lieu of a degree is acceptable.
Ability to identify and manage staff resources to complete deliverables.
Knowledge of local construction market in area of operation including pricing conventions and trends
You must be highly articulate, have clear and analytical approach to problem solving, and strong decision making abilities. You must have excellent communication and presentation skills.
Must have strong skills in CATO, electronic quantity takeoff, and Primavera. Knowledge of typical estimating program functionality and related WBS is preferred.
Requires knowledge of local construction market in area of operation including pricing conventions and trends.
Requires ability to prepare conceptual cost model estimates from limited information using local historic cost information.
Our consultants must thoroughly understand and utilize Information Technology in the performance of work including Internet, Intranet, Microsoft Windows OS, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project.
