Manages the state and local governmental affairs of EDPR NA for the assigned western region of the United States and Canada, working in conjunction with the Director of Corporate Communications & Government Affairs as needed to execute the company’s legislative and regulatory agenda.

• Develops and implements plans to execute the region’s legislative and regulatory agenda, pursuing proactive legislation and defending against adverse legislative or regulatory actions to protect and/or enhance the value of the Company’s operating and development assets
• Develops, fosters, and strengthens relationships with allied stakeholders, elected officials, and other external parties to facilitate advocacy and information-sharing efforts
• Represents EDPR NA in state and regional trade associations, regional transmission organizations, and power market organizations, serving in leadership and on committees as needed
• Represents the company before state, regional and federal organizations, elected officials and key decision making bodies
• Represents the Company at meetings, conferences, public forums, and government hearings
• Leads internal teams in prioritizing and analyzing the impact of critical legislative and regulatory issues based on the Company’s business plan
• Oversees the work of internal teams, external consultants, lobbyists, trade association representatives, allied stakeholders, and others in communicating the Company’s position to elected officials, government staff, media representatives and other opinion leaders
• Monitors media and policymaking entities to track key policy and regulatory developments
• Drafts communications to key personnel, including executive leadership and other managers, outlining the implications of proposed and current legislation and regulations
• Integrates input from the Development, Communications and Commercial teams, as well as executive leadership, to articulate the Company’s positions on key issues
• Develops and internally disseminates the company’s regulatory outreach strategy, including timelines and resource needs
• Supports internal Development and Communications personnel by sharing best practices, providing training as needed, and writing or contracting for position papers and analytical studies
• Supports the Director of Corporate Communications & Government Affairs on broader legislative and regulatory efforts as needed
• Additional duties as required
Position Requirements
REQUIRED EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Political Science, Public Policy, or a
related field; advanced degree or commensurate level of policy experience
REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: 5+ years in policy oversight, government affairs or renewable energy
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Substantive knowledge of renewable energy issues
Strong interest in renewable energy
Demonstrated success in achieving policy outcomes
Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
Negotiation and conflict-management skills
Ability to be highly self-motivated
Strong planning and organizational skills
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills

Ability and willingness to travel as needed
