Senior Manager, Strategy and Business Development


Zipcar’s Strategy and Corporate Development team is looking to add a Senior Manager of Strategy and Business Development who will play a key role in shaping and executing on strategic and business development initiatives. This role will be on point to complete a diverse range of tasks from strategic growth planning, competitive landscaping, partnership strategy development and execution, including partner relationship management. The ideal candidate will exhibit entrepreneurial drive, a passion for innovation and a solid grounding strategic business development. In addition to these characteristics, the candidate should be analytical, possessing the ability to critically evaluate opportunities and be able to confidently communicate findings to key stakeholders.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following
  • Strategic planning and analysis, including the evaluation of potential investments and strategic partnerships
  • Researching and analyzing industry trends as part of developing and maintaining Zipcar’s competitive action plan and supporting Zipcar’s growth strategy
  • Delivering data-driven insights to proactively identify, develop and drive market focused strategies and initiatives that will result in profitable growth for Zipcar
  • Instigating, establishing and nurturing relationships with strategic partners
  • Working closely with Zipcar’s marketing team to develop and execute Zipcar’s partnership strategy

Requirements & Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual should meet the following minimum requirements and qualifications:
  • MBA required
  • 6 -8 years of experience with a combination of management consulting, strategic planning, business development and strategic partnership development
  • Global/multi-national experience preferred
  • Experience in implementing and managing new product or program development from ideation through product launch
  • Experience developing market entry strategies, based on competitive positioning, market trends and customer
  • Solid client relationship management experience
  • Interest in and passion for Zipcar’s mission to enable simple, responsible urban living

Skills needed:
  • Ability to represent Zipcar with strategic partners at most senior level
  • Ability to bring a “client service” approach to strategic partner relationship management
  • Strong analytical thinking and creative problem solving skills and ability to deliver data-driven insights
  • Strong research skills
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with ability to translate issues clearly to diverse stakeholders and manage multi-stakeholder projects
  • Demonstrable skills leading and influencing in a team setting where team members are not direct reports
  • Be a persuasive, confident oral communicator, with excellent presentation skills and a contagious positive attitude
  • Demonstrable global mindset
  • Advanced proficiency with standard business software (Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
