Summary:
This position will serve as an internal consultant with various functions/businesses on complex accounting matters to help support key transactions and initiatives through frequent interaction with leaders at various levels within the Company. Additionally, this position will be responsible for monitoring emerging guidance and providing internal education on new guidance that will impact the Company.

Responsibilities:
• Serve as an internal expert/consultant/resource on complex accounting topics for unique, new, or non-standard transactions.
• Monitor emerging accounting guidance (U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and/or U.S. STAT) and communicate potential changes or implications to various stakeholders.
• Interact with business/function leaders on matters affecting accounting, financial reporting and controllership.
• Lead the assessment and implementation of new technical accounting and financial reporting standards.
• Research and resolve technical accounting and financial reporting issues presented by business/function leaders.
• Communicate with all levels within the organization on technical accounting matters.
• Perform or assist in several key quarterly procedures to support financial reporting of significant and unusual transactions as well as the impacts on reported results.
Basic Qualifications:
• BS/BA degree in Accounting
• SEC Reporting Experience (10K, 10Q, 8-K, etc.)
• CPA
• 5-10 years public accounting experience and/or insurance or financial services industry experience
• Strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret accounting literature to support technical accounting conclusions
• Experience demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate with all levels of management.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with implementation of new accounting standards
• Experience with evaluating complex transactions and/or accounting guidance
• Financial services and/or insurance industry experience.
• Advanced degree, such as an MBA or M.S. in Accounting
