Your tasks
The Random House Content Applications Group is seeking a senior manager that will be directly involved in the following areas, creating documentation and conducting training as needed:
�Establish InDesign standards and best practices for working in a structured digital workflow
�Develop documentation and deliver training to support structured digital design workflow
�Support design suite users using digital workflow tools (scripts, macros, plugins, templates)
�Facilitate tests of digital workflow tools and assess findings in terms of impact and alignment with overall RH workflow goals
�Provide technical contact for compositors and other vendors adopting RH workflow standards, and monitor compliance
�Ensure that changes to the user desktop environment do not interfere with digital workflow tools and processes

Our requirements
The Manager, Content Applications - Design will play a major role in fulfilling the mandates of the Content Applications team:
�Codify the digital workflow standards: tagging/coding, inputs and outputs at key milestones, and validation requirements
�Support staff and vendors/compositors in adopting RH digital workflow requirements
�Work with technology vendors supporting RH digital workflow on customization and integration of their tools into RH processes
�Coordinate technical initiatives between divisions, IT, and digital and ebook groups
�Support custom-developed toolsets, foster use of corporate tools, and facilitate improvement of the whole suite of content processes
�Ensure new content processes support the downstream needs of ebooks and other digital products

Job requirements

Ideal candidates will have:
�A minimum of 3 years experience in book production workflow
�Excellent project management and organizational skills
�Ability to oversee numerous projects with varying timelines
�Experience training publishing design staff in using Adobe InDesign and other design tools in a structured, standards-based workflow
�Ability to leverage data, creativity and technology to meet strategic needs
�Strategic thinking and collaborative abilities, as well as excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills
�Experience with PDF standards, color management, and non-destructive design processes
