Senior Manager of Business Development

Summary: This position’s primary responsibility will be to advance the overall Cott Beverage business with Sam’s Club. Other responsibilities will include direct sales calls with Walmart operational buying influences, management of broker contacts and in addition, this position will also manage and grow international sales with Walmart and Sam’s Club. Incorporated in these responsibilities will be to collaboratively formulate growth strategies and profitable product offerings among all primary customer segments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Sam’s Club – Develop and promote profitable growth within Sam’s Club for the private label CSD, juice and alternative beverage segments.

Operational Activation – Increase sales with Divisional and/or Regional Walmart buying influences as well as strategic planning

International Sales - Maximize growth and profit within each Cott product group among international customer contacts.

Broker Management – Maximize effectiveness and communication with current retail broker representation including all segments of the business

Strategic Activation – Advance strategies within the customer that align with customer and Cott business objectives

Cross Functional Alignment - Work in conjunction with all internal (local and HQ) resources to capitalize on strengths of the organization to ensure profitable growth
  • Ad Hoc projects (as needed) and requested
  • Collaborative development and recommendations of appropriate product strategies.
  • Participate in Cott annual Planning process.


Senior Manager of Business Development

Education, Experience & Skill Set Required:
  • Highly developed analytical, technical, computer, oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly developed negotiation and persuasion skills.
  • Confidentiality a must.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • High degree of accuracy required.

Language Skills:
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos.
  • Strong communication skills and must be comfortable interacting with all levels of management in order to meet daily information needs.

Mathematical Skills:
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rates and percentages.

Reasoning Ability:
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

Other Skills and Abilities:
  • Sales trained and action oriented. Able to understand and interpret market and customer data. Understands consumer measurements. Understands balance sheets and other financial statements. Ability to analyze each product category, break each down into segments, apply understanding of how consumers shop, help senior management understand the dynamics of the customer, and build a strategy for implementation consistent with those trends. Must have planning ability, and ability to create strategies to move ideas to the marketplace.
  • Must be able to work independently while prioritizing assignments with a level of initiative
  • Strong organizational skills a must.
