The Senior Marketing Research Analyst will be responsible for conducting primary market research and competitive intelligence projects and use results to create a compelling story around customer behavior and needs. Types of research could include segmentation, attitude and usage, customer satisfaction, usability testing, concept and message testing. The successful candidate will take an active role in identifying research objectives, questionnaire design, analysis and reporting of key findings. This position requires an individual with a curious nature, an aptitude for problem solving, project management and strong communication and analysis skills.
Responsible for conducting market research and competitive intelligence projects to gather data; analyze data to uncover customer needs. Provide consistent, relevant and accurate data as well as guidance/knowledge of the data and definitions that are available for analysis.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
Responsible for making presentations.
Provides strategic decision and action recommendations based on competitive analysis interpretation. Provides input on policies and procedures.
Manage the execution of primary research projects-both qualitative and quantitative - including sampling, questionnaire development, data collection and fieldwork monitoring, data analysis, and reporting.
Manages several research projects at various stages of execution.
Manage the process for the collection, interpretation and dissemination of insightful Competitive Intelligence using internal and external sources of information.
Participates in department and interdepartmental projects.
Supervises and mentors Marketing Research Analyst.
Proactively identify key customer experience opportunities to improve and build strong relationships with key experience stakeholders.
Serves as a resource to assigned client in area of expertise. Assists with structure analysis to identify high value business opportunities.
Gathers and compiles raw data; conducts research for industry trends and benchmarks; and normalizes data to be incorporated into a centralized data format. Drives data collection and understands different data sources, testing methodologies and the pros and cons of each.
Analyzes, reports, makes comparisons to industry/company benchmarks, determines trends, and prepares cost analysis. Makes recommendations for the future optimization of the program.
Develop comprehensive recommendations intended for senior management, based on internal and external research, demonstrating insight, creativity, and neutrality.
Active participation in managing external vendor partners in the collection, synthesis and reporting of market research data.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Nature and Scope
Identifies key barriers/core problems and applies problem solving skills in order to deal creatively with complex situations. Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems. Makes decisions under conditions of uncertainty, sometimes with incomplete information, that produce effective end results.
Independently performs assignments with instruction limited to results expected. Determines and develops approach to solutions. Receives technical guidance only on unusual or complex problems or issues.
May oversee the completion of projects and assignments, including planning, assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, evaluating results, etc. Contributes to employees professional development but does not have hiring or firing authority.
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience
Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline. Generally 5-8 years of experience in related field; certification is required in some areas OR MS/MA and generally 3-5 years of experience in related field. Certification is required in some areas.
Four year college degree in business, marketing or related areas of study or equivalent work experience.
Strong organization and project management skills.
Ability to effectively identify and communicate stakeholder objectives.
5-7 years experience in direct marketing, CRM, or related field.
Experience analyzing sales data and making recommendations to help improve the company's sales efforts.
Experience in acquiring data within large multi-system enterprise environments.
Advanced knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
Creative thinking and ability to integrate and apply learning from multiple sources.
Exceptional written, oral, and presentation communication skills.
Ability to clearly communicate research findings and implications in a concise manner.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
