Job Description:
This posting is for a mechanical engineer focused on HVAC engineering, design, analysis, and construction details. This position will begin in the Power home office in Frederick, Maryland for approximately 2 months and then will be transitioned to California for the duration of the assignment.
The work required includes technical design development for HVAC systems and /or review for impact on HVAC system designs and installations due to design change package development for modifications such as improvement, change concepts, and resolution for related and technical and licensing issues. Makes decisions concerning problems within the discipline on the project. Represents the discipline on the project and with the client as directed to resolve technical questions.Must be able to provide clear explanations of design attributes and requirements to client and Bechtel home office.
Basic Qualifications
Candidate must have a BS in Nuclear or Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum 8 years experience of in-depth HVAC system design
Familiarity with HVAC design and construction codes and standards is a must.
Working knowledge of HVAC equipment sizing, selection, and application
Working knowledge of ASHRAE standards, SMACNA, ASME and NFPA codes as applied to Air Conditioning and Ventilation Systems, including air handlers, fans, pumps, humidification and dehumidification, hot and chilled water systems, building plumbing and fire protection.
Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Must be able to use relevant engineering computer applications in addition to the standard Microsoft Office Suite.
Candidate must be capable of obtaining access to nuclear power plants.
Eligibility to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
MS in Nuclear or Mechanical Engineering.
10 years experience of in-depth HVAC system design, including at a nuclear facility or clean room environment
PE license
Understanding building negative pressure design and application at a nuclear power plant
Knowledge of nuclear regulations including 10CFR50, Regulatory Guides, Standard Review Plans and Branch Technical Positions.

Knowledge in the use of Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD)
